2005 - Gjøvik-Lyn
Norwegian Second Division Group 2
I took over the team as they were bottom after 12 games (of 26) and they were still only 8 points off the top. A large turnover was necessary and I brought in 9 players for no fee, the pick of which were a 17 yr old ST, a 19 yr old M R/L and a DC. 3 players left for £1k in total.
The season went pretty well ending up tied on points with third with 4 games left but the top two were away and gone so I played a lot of reserves losing three and drawing 1 of the last 4 ending up 4, only to find out the top 2 couldn’t be promoted as they were ‘B’ teams and third place went up.
2006
7 players left for a total of £525k including the M R/L for £375k and the Dc for £180k, 8 further players joined for £9k.
With the new strengthened squad nothing other than promotion seemed likely despite a poor run towards the end of the season and I claimed the Championship with 3 games to play.
2007
In came 14 players for £60k and 13 left for £1.2mil.
The season started well with my new DM scoring 9 goals in the first 13 games and I was top until I sold all of my left wingers and couldn’t find a replacement and I dropped to 6th by the end of the year which I would have taken at the start of the year.
However with many of my players (4 starters) retiring I felt I had taken the team as far as I could and started looking for a new job.
Moment of the season was when my uncapped 34 yr old ST (third choice) earned a call up to the Norway team despite my star 20 yr old ST, who had been top scorer ever year not even getting into the u-21’s.
Yeovil as the noly team in England who would take me were the obvious choice. Languishing in 19th place in League 2 with an excellent squad of players took the pressure off for a while and the board agreed to upgrade training facilities as part of my contract.
Sold the star ST to Celta for £875k and used this money to bring in a new AML from Reading for £475k (learnt from past mistakes with 4 AML's) and the star Dc at Gjojik-Lyn came in for £75k and was instantly made captain.
The season itself went etter than I could have hoped as the Yeovil excelled without their carp ex-manager and climbed to 5th place.
The playoff's were made easy as both teams I played had players sent off inside half an hour but Iwasn't going to complain as Yeovil returned to League 1.
FA Cup went well with away games against Southampton (won 3-2) and Tottenham (lost 3-2 in fifth round).
