After about 10 years at Harrogate I've had just 2 decent players from my youth setup. Both keepers, one of whom has been 3rd choice for a few years now. I've had top facilities for a good few years now.
At Braintree Town, 6 and a half years in, I've got one 16yr old DC who might turn out good enough for the first team, and one 15yr old AMR who looks very promising.
Are we talking about the FIFA plan to have a certain % of 'homegrown' players in future years? I was wondering myself if this would be incorporated in FM06, but am I right in thinking it isn't definitely happening yet.
I can describe what it's like in Germany. From next season on, there has to be a certain amount of "local players" in your squad. That is players that have spent at least 3 years in your team under the age of 21 (something like that?). Then there's also a kind of second tier of local players - that's players who have spent at least 3 years in a youth team in the home nation.
Basically, it's a rule to limit the amount of foreigners without interfering with EU laws.
I don't have exact figures but there has to be 4 players produced by the club in the 7 players of the Nationality of the Team in the 25 players picked by the Team for European Competition.
