I won promotion in the first year with Rushden (yeah, yeah, I support them, so what if they're not in the Conf South?). I'm still not really sure how I did it, there was a 7-game win streak in there somewhere which still baffles me (Northampton broke it unfortunately) which moved me from mid-table into the playoffs, then another spurt took me into 3rd on the last day of the season where I stayed after Darlo lost.
Problem is, I've spent only about £10,000 on transfers in (and £40,000 out), signing only out-of-contract players who wanted to come and I'm having a rough go of the League One this time around, barely keeping my head above the drop, which leaves me to ponder...
How well do you fare after you take your team up, whether it be to the Conference, League Two, or League One? Are certain leaps easier than others (such as the Conference -> League Two?) Or is it generally pretty easy/difficult?
Im managing Halifax in my latest game.Started in conference won that confortabily. Moved to Division 2 won that with about 5 games still to go. NOw in Division 1 for 2 years .1st year scrapped it out with 3 games to go just in the playoffs. Took some major injury blows and ended up out of contention.
I focused my attention on getting either really cheap guys or out of contract and young age 19-21 was my optimium. Concentrated Getting them from Italy adn France. Traded one guy for 4.8mill in present div 1 season and bought some real talent into the team. Now about 25 games into season and im in 2nd spot. Coventry on top 3pts clear and game in hand.
This season has been tough, ID put a winning streak on then lose 3-4 on a row. Cant seem to stay consistent.
Found decent coaching staff is easy to get too from overseas which helps alot with a young squad.
Ok boys. Have a look at the forum header (the sticky might work if the header won't) and see if you can work out why this sort of banter will not go down too well around these parts.
