03/04 was notoriously easy. I never found fm05 too easy, but that could be because I'm a crap manager.

Interesting - I've scored many more late (as in 5th minute of 4 minutes injury time :eek: ) goals than I've conceded.

I like to think it's down to my training and motivational skills

Now, if only i could get my strikers to get more than 1 in 10 shots on target...

Pre-patch, I joined Hyde and although up in the top half of the ECN, no chance of promotion. I carried on with that game as a Steve Bruce type manager accepting every (realistic) offer I got. I finished the game in 2013.

Post patch, I joined Hyde (the players were the same but they played totally differently) and promoted straight away as champions. Up to conference and safe mid table spot by January (although now in a run of 4 staight defeats). No job offers received.

All in all, the improvement in my position may be down to my improved tactical awareness in the new FM06, as all lessons learnt in the first game are fresh im my mind, or could be down to the game. Certainly, I do not need to change tactics etc. 5 to 6 times during a game to maximise my chances and autopilot seems to work very well with the patch. However it is certainly no easy run.

I think on balance the patch has made the playing of the matches slightly easier, but getting new players and receiving job offers seems to be significantly harder. This is just one game mind and may not be born out on a full sample of games.

I originally thought the patch made the game easier but 3 seasons later I do not think so. In general it has improved the game a lot in the sense that there seems to be fewer headless chicken on the field ...
Late goals: I just got my first late goal in FM06 towards the end of the 5th season ... opponents get one in every other game </moaning>

Made no difference for me. I'm finishing higher up the Conference with Billericay, but then I've got a better squad now.

I'm experiencing quite the opposite - I concede a *lot* of early goals.

lately, in my game with Redditch, i have conceded almost an early goal every game, then i seem to dominate quite a few of the games, before finally equalising with seconds remaining. this is why i'm just above the relegation zone in the Conference North

05/06 - Usti nad Labem relegated from Czech Second Division
06/07 - Lieskovec relegated from Slovak Second Division
07/08 - Devin relegated from Slovak Second Division
08/09 - Kept Kremin in the Ukrainian First League

Post Patch:
09/10 - Kremin promoted as First League champions
10/11 - Kremin relegated from High League
11/12 - Kremin promoted as First League Champions
12/13 - Currently hovering around the drop zone with Kremin in the High League.

I had some huge success in my save game after installing the patch, so I dropped it. My current game is clean 6.02 though, and it's just fine (playing Dordrecht in the Dutch Gouden Gids Divisie, having nothing to do with promotion).
