Been playing LLM and lurking in the forum since CM4, so I thought I'd give an update thread a go.

Club: Yeading
2005/2006
The board and fans expect a brave battle against relegation, we'll see how that goes. After a couple of friendlys one glaring truth about Yeading becomes clear to me, so many players, so little quality. I sign some new players, and ship out some of the most useless. We start off poorly and it doesn't much better, our keeper saves us more times than I care to mention and our strikers are so shot shy that our top scorer for the season is a loanee who joins in march and bags 10. We are in the wrong half of the table for most of the season, but in our last 8 games put together a bit of a run and end up in a decent position.
Conference South: 11th - 58pts
FA Cup: 4th QR
FA Trophy: 1st R
Following last year's mind-table heroics, the board and fans now expect us to stay clear of relegation. After a good clearout of some dead wood, we finally sign a decent striker and are ready to face the new season. We start well, sadly after a few games out new striker gets injured, but the loanee we get to replace him just refuses to stop scoring, and even better we land him on a free after 6 weeks of his loan. Armed with two excellent strikers we terrorise conference south defences for the rest of the season. From November there are only three teams in the mix, us, Braintree and Billericay, it goes right to the final game, Braintree were first but if they slipped up they either of us could take advantage. They did slip up, but we, in a frankly awful game lost 1-0 to Cambridge City, missing out on automatic promotion in 3rd. We also lost our keeper on a bosman to Conference side Hereford and sold our best midfielder to Irish outfit Glentoran in June.
Conference South: 3rd (lost to Billericay in play off final)
FA Cup: 3rd QF
FA Trophy:
I feel I need to mention the play off final. We faced Billericay, a good side who had done the double over us, but I felt we could beat them. We took the lead on 10 minutes, they equalised 5 minutes after, it was a tense game for 60 minutes, until I made my 3rd sub on 75, on 76 a player got injured, on 78 they scored and were pressing for a 3rd, on 88 against the run of play 10 man Yeading equalised! Into extra time, and we were on top for the first ten minutes, then we lost another player to injury! 9 man Yeading had a real backs to the wall job, but they were all over us and despite my shouts of 'TACKLE HIM!!' (I was actually shouting at the screen :/ ) they scored on 124, winning 3-2.
I'm in my 5th season at the moment, just trying to spread the updates out a little
2007/2008
The board and fans now expected us to achieve a respectable position, I think the playoffs are doable. After waving goodbye to a few retiring veterans, we clear out the remaining dead wood and sign a few players, including our first foreigners, a Nigerian youth international and an Australian. To describe our new keeper as poor is an insult to poor keepers the world over, and he is largely to blame for our poor start, 14th after 10 games. I stick by him however, mostly because my reserve keeper is even worse and because my useless scout can't find anyone even approaching decent who will sign for us! He pulls his finger out after Christmas however, and with our two star strikers banging in the goals we put together a good run which saw us get to the FA trophy 2nd round (losing to Crawley) and finish 3rd in the league. After two solid performances to beat Hendon in the playoff semis, everyone decides they don't want to play in conference after all and we are well beaten 2-0 by Gravesend in the final.
Conference South: 3rd (lost Gravesend in Playoff final)
FA Cup: 3rd QR
FA Trophy: 2nd R
The board expect us to achieve a respectable position in the league, I'm eyeing a playoff spot. Our best striker has been attracting a lot of interest and when a 150k bid comes in from league one Swansea we let him go. Several new faces arrive before the big kick off, but I don't touch the transfer windfall. One word describes us (well one word that can be repeated at any rate ), inconsistent, we go from destroying league leaders Dorchester 1-4 at their place one week, to losing 0-2 to lowly Bishop’s Stortford the next, we still have one excellent striker who bags 30 goals but a leaky defence. Our poor form in the league was made up for a decent cup run, getting to the first round of the FA cup, before being thrashed 5-1 by Bradford, and also making the 4th Round of the FA Trophy where we were unlucky to lose 0-1 to Dagenham & Redbridge. In the new year I finally lose patience with our keeper and my scouts identify a good replacement at Brentford, who sacks off a move north to warm the bench at Motherwell and makes the seven mile journey up the road to join us. With our backline now playing with some confidence we manage to string a few results together and gatecrash the playoffs in 5th. Where we faced Billericay, who we had a bit of history with and who had done the double over us this season. The 3-2 aggregate loss flattered us and I considered leaving the club, if only someone would offer me a job!
Conference South: 5th - 63 pts (lost 3-2 agg to Billericay in playoff semi-final)
FA Cup: 1st R (lost to Bradford 5-1)
FA Trophy: 4th R (lost to Dagenham & Redbridge 0-1)
