2014/2015
I am more than a little surprised in the summer when the board decides to upgrade our training facilities and open a youth academy. I'm quietly confident about our first foray into the football league, the board, fans and bookies don't share my optimism and we start with low expectations and long odds. I put these concerns to one side and stick with my current squad, even selling our Ireland U-19 star midfielder to Everton for £2.5 million, we also welcome back the striker we sold to Swansea all those years ago on a one year deal and he chips in with a few goals. After a shaky start, we suddenly click in October, even managing to play some nice football and are on top of the pile by Christmas. Our first league cup outing is short and sweet but we fair better in the FA cup.
The second half of the season sees our form suffer because of niggling injuries, the whole division is fairly close and the top 8 swap positions throughout February and March, for some reason we seem to play better away from home during this time. It's all very close towards the end and we need a win on match day 46 to gain promotion to league 1, the boys put in the performance of their lives to destroy Northampton 1-4 and win us our second promotion in a row
Another highlight for us is our performance in the LDV Vans, we outclass several league 1 sides, including winners Reading, during the competition, we go all the way and face Derby in the final. My high hopes of lifting the cup were dealt a severe blow when our Captain got himself sent off after 15 minutes, conceding a penalty into the bargain

What followed was an absolute disgrace, we never looked like scoring and just gave up after the second goal went in, only our keeper kept it from becoming a cricket score.
