The board again expect a brave fight against relegation, I think we’re better than that. Our squad had started to resemble the united nations, and foreigners are the main casualties of a clear out of under performers. We bring in some new faces and a new backroom team, following the now annual poaching of anyone half decent from our staff. We start off well and unlike last season we look as if we can give anyone a game, even beating big spenders Bradford City 1-3 at Valley Parade and we are up with the big boys by Christmas. We even manage a bit of a cup run, being unlucky to lose to Notts Co. in the 2nd round. This success however brings our Wales U21 striker to the attention of bigger clubs and he leaves for Premiership(!) basement boys Brighton in January for £250k. A game where 3 players get long term injuries derails our playoff push and a very indifferent run in sees us slip down the league and finish 13th. Our extremely promising DM starts to attract some interest towards the end of the season and after he refuses a new deal, we decide to cash in, taking £600k from league one Scunthorpe.
Conference National: 13th – 61 pts
FA Cup: 2nd R (lost 1-0 to Notts Co.)
FA Trophy: 1st R (lost 1-0 to Billericay)
Players in: 9 – 20k
Players out: 2 – 850k
Players released: 4

To be fair, they're all big boys compared to Yeading Quote:

I know why it's happening TC.
I'm not Billericay's manager in your game.

A couple of random frustrations.
A left back, who I make the exact offer he wants on Janurary 27th, thwidling his thumbs until Feburary st, causing the deal to collapse.
Being 4k/pw under the wage budget and not being able to offer players more than £1100/wk.
Conference players forever moaning to the press about lack of first team football, where is the 'Listen son, you're not exactly waiting on a call from Sven are you, so pipe down' reply button?

Great update TC. Well done on the eventual promotion by the way. After 5 seasons you earned it

| Indeed. I've got half-a-dozen kids whining that they think they deserve a spot in the 1st team, when they're clearly not even good enough to play for the U-19s.
'Listen, you're on 30 quid a week and your contract runs out in 4 months, so shut up and clean the boots, you little sod.'

In the summer I receive my first job offer, to manage the England U-21 team, where I'm expected to qualify with ease for the European Championships, we make a promising start with an 8-0 drubbing of Malta U-21s and are in command of our group by the end of the year.
Back at Yeading the board expect us to avoid relegation, I'm hoping for a top half finish. I decide to splash the cash a bit as we're £2m in the black, and we make a good start, in and around the playoffs places for the first half of the season. The cups were ok, but nothing brilliant. Our good form and 6.0.2 arsey player syndrome mean that 4 lads move on in the January sales for around £600k, not all of whom are replaced. We carry on playing well, doing the double over Bradford City being a particular highlight, our decent run is disrupted in march when out left back breaks his leg, but somehow we manage to limp into the playoffs in 5th. We faced Kidderminster on the back of a 0-3 home drubbing by them on match day 46, we played well but in the end they had a bit too much for us, winning 3-2 on aggregate.
Conference National: 5th - 73pts (lost to Kidderminster in playoff semis)
FA Cup: 1st R (lost 0-1 to Lincoln City)
FA Trophy: 3rd R (lost 3-0 to Stevenage)
Players in: 11 - 210k
Players out: 6 - 600k
Players released: 7

The board announce that we are turning professional, which comes as a bit of a surprise to me, as 95% of our players and staff are part-timers, but my wage budget gets trebled. After the annual poaching of my staff and a good clearout, we are able to bring in some quality players and the bookies have us at 7/4 to go up. We make a promising start, playing the best football in the Conference and despite an early exit in two cups, lead the pack by Christmas. This good form doesn't go unnoticed and I'm constantly fending off interest in our players by January, however when Premiership high-flyers Norwich come in with a £750,000 offer for my best striker I let him go.
His departure does little to harm our promotion push and by February it's between us and Bradford City for the title, they push us hard and on Match day 45 we face them at home, 1 point behind. An impressive display sees us win 2-0 and in my 500th game in charge, we grind out a 0-0 at Kidderminster on the last day to ensure promotion as champions to the football league, for the first time in Yeading's history. The Yeading directors are forced to invest in a trophy cabinet as the U-18s win their league and the first team find time to pick up some more Silverware, winning the FA Trophy after a tense 4-3 penalty shootout against Dagenham & Redbridge.
Conference National: 1st - 99 pts
LDV Vans(S): 2nd R (lost 1-2 to Yeovil)
FA Cup: 4th QRR (lost 1-0 to Shrewsbury)
FA Trophy: Winners! vs Dagenham & Redbridge 1-1 aet 4-3 on penalties
Players in: 9 - 85k
Players out: 2 - 750k
Players released: 4
