Many clubs are not able to expand their stadiums in the game, because there are real life physical limitations to such expansion. Many clubs cannot add any further to their stadiums because of zoning, space, and local council restrictions. That's probably what you've encountered at Weymouth. If not, then it's strictly down to money, and boards at smaller clubs are probably not likely to risk millions in money on a stadium expansion when it could sink the club into debt that it can never recover. If you get relegated, the attendance won't provide the necessary gate receipts, and then what? The club is ruined.

I guess I am just lucky …. In my Basingstoke game the board (without me even asking) increased the stadium from 6000 to 17000… a month after the 17000 was complete they announce they are adding another 4000 seats. So I will have a 21000 seater early next season. Bragging |

With the ammount of space around the Camrose at the moment I'm not suprised! You could build a pretty large stadium there as it is easily expandible in every direction; apart perhaps from the Winchester Road side where the main stand is now.
Out of interest (I know the is a GQ) if your stadium is non-expandable, does the board ever decide to build you a completely new one?

I doubt it. From what I can gather about how the game works, it takes ages to build up a clubs reputation. So you could be in the Prem, with a board who still consider themselves part of a LL club.

No, if you cannot expand, the board will never build a new stadium. This is a feature that has not been added to the FM series. The only new stadiums are those that are being built in real life and are set up in the pregame database.
So, unfortunately, if you're managing a club that doesn't have the room or authority to expand in real life, you are stuck. You will never have a larger capacity, no matter how high you move up and how much money you generate.

| does this therefore mean if you played a game for 50 or even 100 seasons there would be no new grounds built so some teams would be playing in 200 yr old stadiums?

Yes. And also your manager would be about 220 years old then.

| Only if you start of the game as a 120 year old!!
Again, not really a question for in here but does the game force you to retire at a ceratin age?

No, there are no forced retirements. The game could go on forever, but your computer will never be able to handle anything beyond maybe 50 seasons.
