Default Harrogate purgatory

1st season

We are top of the league by one point with one game to go. Our last game is at home to the third placed team who are two points behind us. It's half time and we are leading 2-0. So of course they score a fluke goal. So of course they get a penalty and score it. So of course they get another penalty and score that one too. We lose 3-2 and come second when a draw would have been enough. So of course we get to the playoff final where we lose on penalties.

2nd season

Terrible early season form but we recover to 6th midseason only to fall back to 12th by the end.

3rd season

Early season form is patchy thanks to an ability to give away penalties and/or concede in the 90th minute. A good run takes us comfortably to 5th and seemingly certain playoff place but we subside to 7th eventually.

I am so disgusted that I resign and start applying for jobs. Two months later I am manager of Wales! We beat Greece 3-2 at home, lost 2-1 away to the Czech Republic and then hammered Slovakia 7-0 at home (okay they had a guy sent off in the first half but still a good performance).

The update was going so well until the Wales job came in to it!

I know Wales are a small nation, akin to Togo on the football scale but I think it's a touch unrealistic for a manager who has achieved nothing in the ECN to become there manager.

/goes to hide from Michal!

I know, it's totally unrealistic. There was at least a message saying how unhappy the fans were and that the squad had never heard of me.

At least they have had a distinguished playing career where they would have picked up tactics etc and earned players respect. This all seems a bit Mike Bassett for my liking!

Realism only takes things so far, though. You could be Pele, or Maradona, or Platini, for all the game knows.

Is even Harrogate likely to take on a 15y/o GCSE student as manager? ...or a Paramedic? ...or an IT Guru?

Nah, I reckon you have to assume at least a semi-pro footballer would get any of those jobs, so to take on a minor Country like Wales when no-previous-experience guys get Holland and Germany isn't all that bad.

Maybe not LLM, but the game did offer the job.

It won't in v6.0.3, btw

Is there going to be a 6.0.3, Ian?
