Having had my hand slapped in BG's thread, i've started my own...
I decided that i'd go straight ahead with a very attacking formation and it has seemed to work, my first couple of seasons winning the league comfortably, scoring lots of goals, albeit with a terrible defensive record.
Season 2005-06
Won the league comfortably due to terrible rivals and making some good free transfer signings from the likes of Gretna. However spent the majority of the season in debt and it got no better. A Cup run to the 1st round of the FA Cup didn't do much for me financially due to wages.
Season 2006-07
new season, pretty much a new squad with a couple of really good finds, and elder bargains. I went up as champions again. However, unlike BG, i lost in the trophy final against a terrible Kiddy side
Season 2007-08
Managed to scrape promotion and the title on the last day of the season. I was 4th, then managed to win 5-1 against Bury which meant i won by 3 goals to clinch promotion ahead of swansea and walsall.
Been applying for jobs (with no success) non-stop as this board is terrible, no new facilities and no new stadium expansion.
It's a shame too as their are some good jobs available low down like Fulham and southampton in League 1!!!
Fingers crossed for a new job now.
Have you noticed you can get lots more money for players only worth 16k for example. list them and negotiate bids too 100k and you tend to get it

I think he said in my thread that he was going to have a go at managing Harrogate (the same team I started off with). For us North East lads, they are the closest available non-league team to start with, at the beginning of a game. However, my non-league team, Blyth Spartans will hopefully be in the Conf North, next season IRL - they are sitting 4th in the Northern Premier at the moment.
Consecutive promotions are achievable - it's about getting in the right players, and finding a reliable couple of tactics that get results. Thing is, I took Harrogate as far as I felt I could (League One), before I jumped ship. Whilst I've moved on to bigger things, I do miss managing at lower level, where finances are tighter.

I've been pretty angry with my team so far at the start of my first season in league one. I'm fourth after 12 games, which is great considering i've barely bought a player and also got a couple of desperation buys at the end of august. Just not happy in the manner i'm conceding.
