I'm sorry if these questions have been asked and answered before but I've done a search and couldn't find anything.

I would like to give LLM a go and have read the rules and guidlines, I've also read the history thread and a few of the challenges and update threads to try and get a feel for it.

I do have a couple of questions.

In the spirit of LLM I used Frank to pick me a team and ended up with Eastbourne Borough, the team is pretty weak and thin and I understand that I can only sign players that have been scouted. What is the LLaMa's policy on Grey Players, do we assume that these are players on trial and signing them is ok or is signing these a big no?

Also whats the guide on signing staff, staff can't be scouted so presumably I have to do all of the searching, are there rules/guidelines as to how far my searching can go?

Thanks for your help. Eastbourne Borough! This is going to be a rough ride!

I don't see a problem in signing grey players. They are already there, and you can use them. I would think it's wrong to keep using grey players and not signing them, because you don't have to pay their salaries.

And, regarding staff search, you can place adverts in the job center, but I don't know if that's working fine in FM 2006 (it didn't in FM 2005). I would perform a search for staff using the search screen, but would try to use only a few search criteria, and not those that you wouldn't be able to use IRL.

Grey players in your own squad are fair game, but beware, they tend to be merde.

As for signing Staff, as long as you're realistic about it then it's best (still) to hunt the buggers down yourself, rather that using the job centre.

I'd personally search for unemployed UK and Irish Staff and not offer too many contracts.

Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for the tips, I see your point about playing them without paying them, I hadn't thought of it like that.

As for staff I'll start by just advertising and see how that goes (although I think you right its not very well implemented in that you get people from all over the world applying, not very likely in Eastbournes case)

Sorry iajafer I posted before I had read what you said, well if the common consensus is searchind for staff locally is ok then I'll go with that.

Well I'm hooked! I'm a complete convert, why I didn't try this sooner I'll never understand. This LLM thing has rekindled my slowly dying flame of affection for FM.

Why I ever sought any enjoyment out of picking the big sides with the big budgets, buying the best players and winning top competitions I'll never know. The tension and excitement of a 1st round FA Trophy tie far outweigh that of any European Final.

The sense of achievement when you actually manage to finish higher than expected is far greater than winning a league with a team full of the latest Brazilian and French superstars.

I hereby pledge never to start a career as Chelski or Liverpool ( ) ever again. From now on Frank will always dictate my career and avoiding relegation will be my aim. Scouts shall be my guides and chairman my nemesis.

(I'm preaching to the converted aren't I? Never mind I've written all of this down now I'm going to post it!)
