While great in principle, communism doesnt work in practice.
Mainly because people are too selfish.
But also because the idea behind it is flawed. Not all people are equal.

dGreb, no offense here even if we don't agree. It was all meant in jest. But since we're on it, if you hate capitalism, how can you play FM? or even purchase it? SI are making a profit on the game in a free market  Besides which the whole concept of professional sports is largely based on free-market capitalism. But again, I am just winding you up a bit
Seriously though, is it that you hate capitalism as it operates in Brazil or the whole system? As you pointed out, the poorest of the poor in Western Europe or North America, although largely capitalist (in different degrees and forms) cannot compare to the poor in Brazil.
| Just want to make clear first that i doesn't felt myself offended in any moment at this thread... i was talking about offend you people.
In fact i'm glad that you people know that i think this weird way...
I said that the other post was my least one on the subject, but Mr. Hook convince me to give this one so...
Well Hook, i'm not a fanatic "bomb thrower" you know! besides, FM is product of human work, and everything human race have invented and produced it's mented to serve human people.. no problem agains Nike shirts, Computer games or anything else...
About the capitalism i don't like, well..
My critics are upon the very basis of the capitalist system.. I know this seem very radical but is that way i think, what can i do?
Think abou this... you go on market and buy a soap bar. You do this because you nedd to wash your body when in the shower! The cost for producing the soap is, for exaple, 0,10 cents, but the price at the market is 1,00!
Well man... to fullfill your demand, the human demand, you need just 0,10 but you pay 1,00.
Why? Because the pay a fortune for the model in the propaganda! The model doesn't attend a human demand... it's to attend a demand of the capital, that must accumulate more capital into itself!
The sace logic you can apply to a lot of ather things, as Iraq War, Oil industry, Weapon Industry an follows...
By the way... i'm not weird NERD here in brasil... just to make clear that the grils love-me, i work hard and have a lot of friends and i live in here just like you do wherever you people live...
The system is o lot bigger that me so i accept it and live a normal life... Just to make clear

Your soap example is a pretty good one, so I'll stick to it.
So, say, the system would define that things get sold for cost. Why would anyone get the idea then to produce soap? Why would anyone invest in machines, factories, halls, transport and employees if there's no chance of getting it back anyway? As sad as it is but free capital and people who invest it is a very efficient means of development and research.
Just take the difference between East and West Germany for example. Both of these countries had the same base after the second world war. But while the West was given some money to play around and invest (Marshall), in the East only those things were done that were really required. So there goes the innovativeness.
To get back to your soap example: you don't have to buy the 1$ soap bar which has a brand. There are also cheaper products. They don't look as nice in the package, and they don't smell as well, and you don't see them in TV. But they're still soap. And they cost maybe 0,30. Brand awareness can also mean that you should be aware of brands and know if you really want to pay the price for them.

Well Cosmo...
I doesn't agree with the URSS Comunism! i think that that was worse than the actual capitalism so i cant tell about East Germany.
In fact i'm pretty shamed to talk with you about this because the recent history of your contry was dificult, i know, but i i belive in Marxism.
If Communism = URSS than Danilo <> Comunista!
About the meaning for the reserch, well, look at Cuba at 1985! They have built the most advanced Medicine in the world at the time! They have organized the reconstruction of the country, and everybody worked on it!
Why the have done this? Because they understand that the land was their possesion, and they must take care of that together.
I think that only money it's a pretty sacrifing way to oblige people to work! they must have how to obtain the goods they need, and the money is good for that, but that must be a right of every human beein! People must work because what they are doing is for the good the collective.
About the cheaper soap... it was an example cosmo, but i give you another
USA have invaded IRAQ... a war doesn't fullfill a human demand.. a war will hort a human right... bvut stoling the oil from iraq is good for the capital..
With this cenario, they will always prefer the capital side!

Well. In this case the US must be the most stupid country in the world, invading a country and then still buying the oil for the inflated price - which is inflated due to the war again.
Maybe it's just me, but stealing isn't the same as buying in my opinion.
As for the war itself: a war sucks. Having Hussein kill thousands of Kurds sucks as well though. Stupid situations where you can only lose, whatever you do. That's life.

Maybe I'm disturbing your view of the world now: but propaganda can come from all sides, and Michael Moore definitely falls into this category.
There's a really good piece of advice: just because something is written as truth, it doesn't mean that it really is.

I've read those Michael Moore books myself and also watched the movies. It's good amusement but he's using exactly the same tricks and methods he's complaining about.
Check out Moore's jobs for example. While he was whacking Bush in his books, he was working for the election campaign for one of Bush's opponents (Ralph Nader). Conflict of interests, huh?
