I have had FM 2008 now for over a month. I have had every version of old Cm and now Fm. I had pre-ordered FM08 and I am still waiting to play the game.
My last 6 emails to SecuRom have resulted in a grand total of 2 responses both of which state that the developers will look into it. No timeframes, no indication of anything. Despite my repeated attempts to get some sort of timeline so I know if I will still legally be able to return the game to the store I bought it at as its now 30 days since purchase they have provided extremely poor customer service.
When attempting to install I receive the error message "Emulation Software Detected". I have no emulation sw installed. I never have had any emulation sw installed. I have tried sending analysis files, I have tried installing an FM.exe that SI sent me, I have tried uninstalling any program i dont recognise, I have disabled evey task from task manager and reinstalled, disabled anti-virus and firewalls etc etc.
Apart from the fact I have been mucking around on my laptop every eve for a month tyrying all sorts of workarounds, the thing that frustrates me most is the lack of support and responsiveness I have recieved. this has left an extremely sour taste in my mouth.
I for one will never purchase another Sega/SI/SecuRom game EVER again. I will also tell every man and their dog who will listen what a bunch of dishonest no good pi$$ants I have had to deal with whilst trying to gain the slightest bit of communication to keep me up to date with what is going on.
Good job Sega/SecuRom - you have raised my blood pressure for the last month and successfully turned me against the game I loved to play.
You've probably come to the right place now in truth.
Sega may not know the problem because thats not their expertise area, and SecuRom should give much better customer service than that since it is their fault, or an area that they know, but there must be someone around that has the computer knowledge to set you on track.
I remember a lot of people having emulation device problems last year too, got sorted I think.
If their tool can 'detect' that I have some sort of 'Emulation' s/w installed then surely they should be able to tell me what it is!! I would happily uninstall whatever it was to get the game to work but they cant tell me anything!!
Its an absolute joke that their security can tell that I have something on their banned list but that they cant determine what it is!! and if they cant determine what it is then how does their s/w determine that I have any??
(though it's basically a crack, issued by SecuRom themselves)
There are also some third party utilities that will fix the issue with SecuRom. FM isn't the first game SecuRom have buggered up...Need for Speed Carbon nearly destroyed my computer thanks to SecuRom! it's so bad that someone decided to make a program to fix it!
i;'ve had zonealarm and AVG and they didn't cause any trouble.
the only problem i sseem to remember is if you have a scheduled clean up that starts automatically and it empties one of hte fm folders completely messing up the player histories.
