| This is nonsense, and is no different to any software bought for a PC. They will all need patches.
How will they upgrade their drivers either?
Some vendors may release patches called Upgrades and Service Packs |

Sorry, but I'm finding it extremely hard to believe that so many people honestly believe everyone has access to the internet.
Theres lots of children that play FM, and many of those will not have internet access due to parents not wanting them exposed to inappropriate matrial. Lots will have the ability to download things blocked.
As for getting it from a magazine, many people wont be aware that its avaliable (I certainly wasnt), and its hardly the point, unless its a free magazine. They have already paid for the product, now they have to pay for a magazine to get that game to work properly.
Same thing applies if you can managed to find an internet cafe that you download and burn it onto a disc.

No offensive, but if you don't have the Interwebâ„¢ at home, then you may as well live in a cave.

The fact is, most players are not aware of the patches or don't have access to them and have therefore bought a dud. You'd think SI would be more professional and send out a much better game as they must be losing customers all over the place.
| We have more than 140 members and they all don't come online with you everyday </BLOCKQUOTE>
And that ignores all those who download the patches from the SI site without ever registering for the forums, let alone visiting them.
Also, the patch isn't only available here, but is spread all over the internet.
And before I got online nearly eight years ago, I used to get CM patches (for much buggier versions of the game than this one) from magazine discs as it was the only way I had to get them - and the numbers of people who now have access to the net is much, much greater.

bet most people without the internet (really how many is that now days?) or dont know about patches wouldnt even know there a problem with the game. I know I found the game just fine without the patches, so unless you hit one the major bugs (ie fixtures not updating) they wouldnt care about anything.

I expect people without the internet have probably learned to cope without it, and have found other ways to occupy their time, such as productive hobbies or social interaction. I'm sure they won't lose sleep over not being able to download a patch.

I think that it serves them right for not being connected!
Seriously though, I doubt that those people without the interweb would play enough to even notice these bugs. AND if they did experience one, they would proably find a friend/internet cafe and look up these forums then realise there is a patch. Then they would probably find someone who would download it for them. This is 2007 - internet is available to EVERYONE, especially those who can afford to pay and play FM.

The logic of "if someone is having a problem, they won't be able to fix it" is flawed.
If anyone has a problem with their PC, they contact a friend, contact the store where they bought it, or search online at a library/friend's house/cafe/school or work.
Any of these options will probably unearth the existence of a patch.
They can then decide how to download it, and even if they're not at their friend's house for long enough, the information they located about the patch will also normally contain information regarding the magazine availability.
If the user didn't notice a big enough problem with the game to warrant an investigation of these options, then he doesn't need the patch.
