Yeah, the game sells hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide. If all of those users are aware of these forums why is there only 140 people online??
The fact is, most players are not aware of the patches or don't have access to them and have therefore bought a dud. You'd think SI would be more professional and send out a much better game as they must be losing customers all over the place.

The patch is usually released in magazines as well, so that should not be an issue for anyone, as far as internet penetration is concerned, I don't think its as severe as some people have made it out to be

| The fact is, that most people are not aware of the bugs either. Me, for example. I have only noticed a few minor tweaks required here and there, but no real "show stoppers". I only know about the problems because of this forum. The game is fine for me, better and more enjoyable than any previous FM or CM, but I'm still glad SI is working on a patch to make it even better.

Here's one ... Ive been over in the US for years and came back earlier this year. While gone my brother got into computer gaming in a pretty big way.
I was talking to him about a game and he mentions having a problem with it, I ask ... "Did you get the patch?" He says ... "Whats a patch?"
lol he's been gaming for about 4 years but has no internet so had no idea there was such a thing as patches to fix all these broken games he's been buying.
That's your average 'casual gamer' for you.
He just thought all these companies make really crappy products. Maybe he has a point |

isn't there a button on the main screen that allows you to click to get updates anyway?
theyh'll have an idea then.
even if your not a major gamer your going to know about patches.
i knew when i was 15 and that was 11 years ago </BLOCKQUOTE>
Personally i never noticed that updates button. I rely on the forum for patch information. There are probably a lot of FM players who don't even use the forum.
Need proof? There will be 5 new threads today from people who have "played since CM1" who think FM 2008 is the worst game ever made.

| You haven't? Then I would respectfully Suggest you visit an optician. When you load up the game you a presented with a menu of thing like start new game, load last game, load previously saved game & network. On the bottom right there is five further options the first of which is check for updates |

Its utterly naieve (to put it politley!) to think that a patch has 100% penetration to the customer base.
Football Manager is the only PC game I play of any nature. I dont play many games full stop in all honesty and I only know about the patch because someone at work told me about them in the summer. I'd been playing 07 unpatched for months, and downloaded 7.0.2 in September!! I didnt even know what patches are untill then. I just thought the game had some annoying features.

Poor souls.
If they don't have an internet connection, not having a patch for FM08 is the LEAST of their worries. I hate moving house, becuase I'm offline for as much as a week! Don't know how I survive...
