Goals-shots ratio problem - The solution? (Post contain player names and tactical information)
I have been reading on these forums about the shots to goals ratio problem. I have not read the related threads in much detail because I have not faced it myself. But since it seems a lot of people are unable to play this game because of this, I thought of sharing some information about how I play. If this is not useful kindly excuse. I am not giving any guarantee that this will solve the problem. Only I have not faced this problem as much as many other users so I am trying to help out.
Let me start with the screenshots of stats for my 4 strikers in my current season.
1. Podolski
2. Gignac
3. Paolucci
4. Ashton
As you can see the goals to attempt ratio are as follows:
This comes to a combined ratio of 48/157 which is around 1 goal per 3.2 shots on target.
Now I am happy with these figures and believe this reflects real life. It might be that majority of forum posters have higher expectations, in which case my post is just a pile of junk which does not add any value.
But if my results are acceptable to the forum posters who find there is a problem, there must be something I am doing that they are not doing. Sadly, since I don't know in detail what settings everyone uses on their players and what formations, I can't say what I am doing different. Hence I will just say what I do.
I use the ROO framework along Googen's line using a short farrowed winger 4-4-2. But I don't use so many tactics. I just use 4, one for home, one for away, one for protecting a lead, and the other for chasing a game.
I have not used Googen's tactics as it is, but made some tweaks to suit some FM2008 problem, mostly in defending. Hence my tweaks won't be affecting the shots on target to goals ratio.
My take on the matter is that the usage of an AMC introduces this problem. But I have not done enough experiments to be sure. Clearly, since something works for me I just carry on with that without using an AMC. I am sure there are other people around with better tactical acumen who might be able to pinpoint the problem.
Although as I said earlier, it just might be that my expectations are lower and hence the post does not mean anything.
In any case, I will be happy if this 15 minute effort is of some actual use to anybody.

Goals-shots ratio problem - The solution? (Post contain player names and tactical information) Post #2
I think the problem people are having is that its the one on one shots to goals that teams arent scoring.Ive had at least 3 games in the last 10 games where my team has missed around 5 or 6 one on ones in each game!I lost all 3 games, but i also know that ive missed more one on ones in other games, although not 5 or 6 in one game,maybe2 or 3.
I dont think anyone minds players not scoring from outside of the box,or even just inside the area, but one on ones, you just wouldnt miss that amount game after game.Im a conference team and my good strikers are loans from championship level, with good stats and yet they still miss one on ones every time.
