OK, basically I have recently had surgery on my ankle and have been unable to work since the 23rd of November. During my boredom I decided to see what it would be like playing the game entirely with regens, starting in the year 2027. So I created myself as a manager and went on holiday for 20 years.
When I came back I found out that things had definately changed in English football so I thought I would post the results on here (I have screenshots).
I should add I have had no input into this game whatsover, apart from being linked to quite a few lower league teams, it is as if I was never there!
The most exciting aspect of the 2026/27 season in the Premiership was a thrilling relegation clash. By the final league game West Ham had already had their future decided, and a 3-1 victory over Southend in their final league game was mere consolation as they finished the season bottom with 38 points. Anyone of 5 teams could still occupy the remaining 2 relegation spots, with Charlton, Man Utd, Arsenal, Sheff Utd and Liverpool all facing the drop.
Of the relegation candidates, Manchester United had by far the toughest game, as the troubled team were set to host the biggest club in English football, Stoke City, who had already secured their 4th consecutive Premiership title, their 7th in 10 years. Elsewhere Arsenal, Liverpool and Sheffield United all had home fixtures against mid table teams Sunderland, Tottenham and Bolton, whereas Charlton faced a tricky away trip to 8th placed Norwich City.
In a thrilling finale to the 26/27 season, Charlton snached a 1-0 victory against 10 man Norwich, Sheff Utd secured a 2-1 home win against Bolton, and Arsenal also claimed a vital 3 points with a 2-1 win against Sunderland, aided by 27 year old England international Scott Herberts' only red card of the season for Sunderland in the 40th minute. Liverpool fell to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Tottenham, while Man Utd could only manage a 1-1 draw with league champions Stoke, meaning relegation for both of the former greats.
At the end of the 2026/27 season, the table looked like this
In the Championship, Bradford secured an immediate return to top flight football with a 2nd place finish, while it was 3rd time lucky for Everton, who topped the division after 3 years out of the Premiership. Swansea, West Brom, Southampton and Fulham all made it to the playoffs, with Watford missing out only on goal difference on the final day of the season, as they could only manage a draw against Swansea.
The relegation battle was also decided before the final games of the campaign, with Cardiff, Accrington Stanley and Wrexham, who had all been strongly tipped to struggle propping up the rest of the league
In League 1, Aston Villa failed in their attempts to make an immediate return to the Championship, after losing in the Playoff Semi Finals. Blackpool and Colchester gained automatic promotion, with Crystal Palace winning in the Playoff final to ensure their return to the Championship
In League 2, Blackburn, Cambridge and Chester achieved automatic promotion, with Chester finishing above Newport Co only on goal difference after a victory on the final day of the season. Stevenage were the 4th team to win promotion, after a dramatic victory on penalties in the Playoff final against Yeovil. At the other end of the league, York and Bath slipped out of the division.
I only have the Blue Square Premier screenshot on this computer, so I'll post that now, then next time I come on here I'll post North/South and some player stats
