Am I right in thinking that CA/PA is how much better a player can become, and not how good a player is?

For example, a 28 year old player with 15+ for heading, marking, tackling, jumping, positioning, concentration and etc but a CA/PA of 120/130 is still a very good player regardless of the low ability. Whereas a 19 year old with the same attributes but with a CA/PA of 120/190 has, in theory, the ability to improve his stats greatly.

Is this right?

CA is a rating of their current ability based on a calculation of the attributes needed for their position. This will go up with training, age, experience, good coaches etc.

PA is the maximum figure that CA will rise to if all parameters are met and is randomly set by the game every new game within a band of about 30 points.

The higher the PA the better the player could be, but also the fewer players actually get to their PA.

exactly.actually if players has a pa around 190 he might reach this almost maximum level only if he will be trained from his first ages in fm by great coaches and also if he has nice mental stats that will force him to train hard.fe. if you have a plyers that has 120 yo,and big pa,but ca around 120 he will never develop to his max...it is too late.Such example is falcao..mental stats + pa would make him best sniper in the game,but when he starts he is already a lil bit old to develop it
