OMG !!!! I saw many of the modern managers here like Marco Van Basten, Rjikaard,Ronald Koeman, Gullit, Quique Flores (Valencia Coach),the amazing famous six from Man Utd (Neville bros, Beckham, Giggsy, Scholesy,Butty)And I play them in my first team together with CAPTAIN MARVEL Bryan Robson,Gordon Strachan, and Sheringham (he is 24 years old OOOO)And do anyone know who is STeve McMahon ??? HE IS A FREAKING GOOD DM, he tackles furiously !!!!!!HEY I EVEN SIGN JOSE MOURINHO and make him my dog (assistant)and I sign Platini and make him rot in the reserves !!

Guess my ("future managers" line-up:

Zoff (Torino)

Flores(VFC) Koeman (PSV) Edwin Koeman (FR)

Rjikaard (FCB)

Gazza(KT)Macca(Sydney)Robson(C)(WBA)Laudrup(FCK)

Gulilt(CFC) Dalglish(LFC) Van Basten (NED)

Sub: Chris Coleman (Fulham)
Dennis Wise(Leeds)
Nigel Clough (Burton Albion)
Steve Clarke (Chelsea)
Steve Coppell (Reading)
Martin O'Neill (Aston Villa)
Maradonna(Boca Juniors)
John Barness (Macclesfields)
Joe Jordan (Newcastle)
Dave Beaesant (Leicester City)
Dunga (Brazil)

liverpool4life118:
I'm afraid it won't work on FM07. A pity, as I would have loved to expand the db (to continue working on the outdated FM06 version doesn't tempt me). In that respect, it feels a bit sad to know that six months of work won't be able to be continued, as I feel that there still was much unfulfilled potential in it. And I won't even consider starting all over again with the Sisyphean task of making a new one from scratch with FM07.

There should be a way of converting the db to make it compatible with FM07, though. I guess SI don't rewrite the entire db for their next games, so there ought to be some way of converting it - but, alas, those means are unattainable for me.

I see that there in fact already exists a discussion at this board for my 89/90 patch, but as I wanted to give a more thorough introduction to it and tell about the latest updates, I am hereby starting this new thread.

What is this patch about? It is a trip back to English football's bad, old days, before Premier League, all seater stadia and luxurious foreigners totally changed the experience of the game. By extracting these files into your db folder, it offers the possibility to manage English clubs that have their authentic 1989 squads in the game, like Liverpool with Rush, Grobbelaar, Houghton, Arsenal with Merson, Adams, Smith, Wimbledon with Fashanu, Segers, Wise, and so on. Even Maidstone have their full squad as of 1989. All data in the English league have been tried adopted to the realistic settings of 1989; managers and players with their abilities and reputations, clubs with their stadia and kits, even the weather conditions have been changed.

What is new in version 3? The last few weeks I have been trying to add on players in foreign leagues, in addition to repairing a few mistakes in the English league (such as the omission of the great Derek Brazil). Due to the fact that very few foreign players are included in a game when one selects small db, I have added a retain file to ensure that the foreign clubs in question keep their players when you start a game. Some of the major European clubs now have full senior squads, while other clubs that are likely to compete in the European club tournaments are improved as well.

I should also notify that the amount of work to be done for making such a patch is quite large, so there are bound to be a few mistakes. Especially when dealing with players in European clubs, I had to face my shortcoming.

An idea of how the game looks like:
Screenshots

Please do the following when starting a new game
-Do always play small database, in order to avoid contemporary fringe (mostly foreign) players that have not been deleted to enter the English league.
-Do only choose from the top four English divisions, i.e. Football League.
-Do remove the file "init" in the data folder which supplies Chelsea with their sugar daddy.

If you would like to download it:
Please go to the download site

Files are only compatible with FM2006 version 6.0.3.

I gladly receive any questions or feedback.
Aha Someone on the same wavelength, ok Well I am trying to build a database from 10 years before this - the old English & Scottish Divisons of 1979/80 for FM2007 if anyone has any helpful hints I'd appreciate it, have got most of the players now for English 1st & 2nd and Scottish 1st but setting attirbutes is rather difficult getting the right results.

would be interested to see what anyone else has come up with for previous games with a similar dataset, (I have FM2005 and 2006)

cheers

What i would prefer is a league (and database) with all the CL winners of the past years (with enough diferent teams to make it a let's say 18 club division).

Teams like Real Madrid (choose the season they were most legendary), Ajax 95, Milan (choose season), Manchester United (99), PSV 88, Bucharest 86, etc etc.

Maybe including the loosing finalist as there probably won't be enough different teams (with real winning it 9 times it's impossible to have 9 different Real's in 1 league ).

It's a bit like the FIFA 2000 option to play to previous legenderay squads up each other.

Having reinstalled FM06, patched it and then installed your update I was delighted to see the content and looked forward to playing. However I see the actual playing dates are from 2005 not 1989. Is that how it is, or have I missed something?
