any season from the late 70s or early 80s when english clubs were dominant in europe. we probably had the strongest league in the world in that era and there were some legendary foreign players about at the time aswell.

Wulber: I was hoping to achieve something more than I actually managed with the Scottish league in this version, but I was forced to face my limitations. There may be about 100 players or more in the Scottish league, but I cannot say it's playable. This was due to lack of knowledge though, not will!

Kilmaster1976: No, I didn't bother to change the UEFA coefficients, although Stevenhp1987 was kind enough to actually fix that in an update on a previous version. Regarding the screenshots - they have been picked from various web sites and are not included among the files. By the way: the most frequently used one in the screenshots is from the (Old) Den, situated in Cold Blow Lane. Behind Marco Gabbiadini you can catch a glimpse of a very dim Roker Park, and the Chelsea squad has the old oval shaped Stamford Bridge as its background.

switchblade romance: I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed it! However, I'm afraid I won't be undertaking any such project again, because even though it was very interesting and challenging to recreate a season of the past in FM, it took ages to make and could get tiresome. The editor isn't really built for such projects - but I do hope that editor tools that simplify such work could be implemented in the future, and that it will be possible to change structures that aren't accessible to us now, so other people also might be encouraged to initiate something like this. Perhaps a greater number of researchers (or rather: historians?) could be gathered in a common project to reconstruct an ancient season (I'd love to see one from the 70s!), thus obtaining a more realistic db than what one single person and his sometimes dubious memory and sources could grant.

DWeller...

If I was SI, I'd be seriously interested in getting you involved with the game. The sheer detail and quality of your patch is immense, and I'm sure there's a place for someone of such quality as you at SI.

So how about it, SI people?

Didn't SI look into doing a retro version, but thought that due to the whole thing being too complex, it would be too impossible...

I also agree Dwellers work is immense- I would like to do something similar. I have literally about a hundred books of football and have an anorak brain, shame cant make money frm it though! Would like to do an update myself fron doing one for an earlier version I know it would take months- but if anyone interested in doing their own here are some great resources

Any Rothmans year book started in 1970
Wikipedia -is excellent you can get squad lists with most birthdates for every World Cup
a website called planetworld cup is excellent as well as Brian Glanvilles History of the World Cup. Glanville describes players in detail.

I will do an update myself just thinking of the season, so far someone has suggested a season from the sixities. I am sure this would take months to do maybe 4-6 but if done as a group it could be faster. Anyone want to help?

just got this, great work.

The only problem i can see is the player values vs. what clubs have to spend.
