Isn't this just pointless tight marking a striker, any half decent striker just seems turn turn and he's off. BANG your a goal down.

From my experience i would say yes, occasionally it did work but i believe it was due to having world class defenders. In short i never use it

My take on tight-marking is only players with great pace and agility should have tight-marking on.

I am managing Spurs with Dawson and King as my central defence pairing. I used man to man marking. When I check tight-marking for both, I realised Dawson always get skinned by the strikers easily while King do a better job.

I then unchecked tight-marking for Dawson. He did a better job, staying close to his man and using his strength to tackle the ball away.

The advantage of having tight marking on is that their forwards will have their back to goal when they are quickly closed down.

If they do manage to turn your defender, whether its on tight or not, it will be squeaky bum time.
