I'd made a couple of good tactics up doing the clean sweep with Liverpool, Villa, Forest and Real Madrid and then my PC blew up so I lost em! I decided to start a fresh with Millwall and develop a new one. I'm in 2010, in the Prem and won the UEFA and FA cups last year after going up in consecutive seasons finishing 2nd in both league 1 and the championship. I think I'm onto something decent but would appreciate a few testers to give me some feedback on any improvements as I still struggle for the consistency I'm craving?
The tactic is a strange one (2323), 2 CB's, WB's and a DM with barrows, 2 CM's with arrows, 3 up top with 2 wingers running into the box and a target man. I play attacking football with only the CB's, DM and GK on a different mentality. Quick tempo, plenty of width and a high line so I've just implemented the offside trap. Passing is mixed but on the short side if you get my drift and everyone's creative freedom is on 1! Strange but it works, players are better in possession this way and plenty of chances are still created, last year Maxi Lopez got 30+ goals for me playing as my target man and Lita got 16 as back up!
I've tweaked my set plays too with lots of goals coming from corners and I don't concede that many from the oppositions set plays either. Just make sure that the right hand CB is the best in the air as he'll be the daddy in the box for corners(Soley got 8 last year).
This tactic has been developed for the most recent patch, here's the link, it's listed as "Frank Attack!", ket me know how you fair?... http://fmdownloads.net//index.php?
Chris - only played 2 games (home win, away draw) but it looks promising, the runners from MC have scored all 3 goals so far.
What players do you use for the MC? hard working midfielders or flashy AM's. Also the widestrikers, do you get better results with good crossers or good finishers?
Newky, cheers for the feedback. For the MC's I look for passing, long shots and finishing as musts so I suppose flashy AM's are better suited. At the moment I'm using Becks (35 and still going) and Barazite on my Millwall game and they're getting a few goals too.
The wide strikers are key, when I devised the system I was using old fashioned type wingers who were better at crossing than finishing and I was struggling cos they were wasting their chances. Now I'm using Bieswar and Zidan who are quick and good finishers and as a result more goals and more wins!
Pace is really important for all 3 strikers though cos it really stretches the oppositions defences. Just won super cup against Inter with my mighty Lions too!
Just an update for anyone who's giving this tactic a go:
I've tweaked the defensive line to push up at the max (20/20) as I'm still leaking the odd goal away from home when I'm dominating the game. Early results have been promising with a 2-0 home win against the toon and a 0-0 away draw with sunderland, 2 clean sheets!
I think it's important to stress that your CB'S need to be quick and good in the air.
