Abramovic, I am glad to have found another 'global companion'.

Admittedly, I have not read through your threads as of yet. I plan to very soon.

Below are links to my global systems:

Home

http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...7/m/7252065123

Away
http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...7/m/6772081323

It would be wonderful if you could take a quick glance through to see if notice any similarities/differences between yours and my implementation. You never know, we may filter some discrepancies and find a 'wonder tactic'. I'll have a glance through yours too and see what I find. Could you provide a link so I can dive straight in when I get home?

Bluenose, andysafc, and I are having tremendous success with the new global systems and it's the way forward methinks. I recently theorized too that having the assistant control team-talks significantly improves results. Having only recently experimented with this (for the first time ever), and doing so in conjunction with my new global system, I am unsure as to whether it's the tactic or the team talks, or indeed both, that have improved my results and renewed my love for this game. Any thoughts?

bluenose—how are the results treating ye kidda?

Arteta is God as far my tactic so far is concerned Im just using a default 442 with mentality adjusted to attacking(first tick onto attacking from normal).I've just started my second season with Portsmouth to test these settings fully.

Now I quickly scanned through your settings I would attempt to globalise the passing of the team at home as having fullbacks on direct means the will more often waste possession by lumping the ball to the striker.

As far as away tactics is concerned I can only comment from my experiences in away games using global settings. Now we know that AI teams are more likely to attack you at home thus I used counter attack to my advantage. My instructions were as follows

Mentality attacking
Passing direct 15
Tempo quick 15
C Down 12
and counter attacking ticked.

rest default including player instructions

Now this ensured that whenever my team was in position, they would look to pass forward and deliver a quick blow. And this system serves me very well I alway manage to beat the big 4 in England, even when facing a big side at home it works.

Well thats what i do and I hope it helps you in someway

that is really interesting that you attack away from home, I never would have thought about trying this. I rely heavily on a patient and rigid structure with my whole team set to normal (apart from the strikers), and no forward runs or arrows. I generally concede few and win in 'smash-n-grab' style.

Do you think that because you check counter attack that you can still attack away from home? What are your observations on the counter attack? Do you defend deeper? with it checked for example.

I don't change anything else except for the tweaks mentioned above as I don't want to over-complicate my tactics. There is no point defending deep away from home as why would you allow them more space when there attacking anyway. The reason you go attacking while playing an counter-attacking approach is players take better attacking positions faster thus creating more attacking opportunities. What counter attack does is it makes the team more compact and once the opposition enters my half of the pitch there closed down immediately, this combined with a direct passing style exposes weaknesses of the AIs fullbacks as there drawn out of position to support oppositions attack. I hope this makes sense if not I could try to word it differently

I guess this is as good of a place to mention how my experiment is going so far sense i mentioned it above.

Season 2: Portsmouth

Tactic: default 442 with mentality adjusted globally to attacking

Games played so far in premier league 23

Position: 2nd in the league

So as many of yous will say thats nothing impressive as I've improved the original squad but this is the season that re-ranking was supposed to kick in and I used the same tactic towards the end of the last season 10 or so games. As you can see it has taken me less than a minute to create a relatively solid tactic. I doubt this will make an impact on anyone but I'm very surprised by the results so far.

second season with crewe - finished 4th won the playoffs (predicted 22nd!) - again used global all year but this year re-ranking had more of an effect had to chop and change toward the end to keep up momentum

Since FM2007 ws released I've gravitated more and more towards a global mentality formula.

I eventually settled on my usual 451/433 system, but with all player on global mentality, except for:

DC's - First notch of normal (i.e. 7)
SC - Last notch of normal (i.e. 14)

Reasons for this is that I hated to see the DC's charging towards the halfway line to get involved in play or trying to tackle there (despite their closing being only 5 or 6) and I hated to see the SC's getting sucked too deep and not being availble for the counter.

This approach has seen me lead Sunderland out of the 1st Division/Championship and to 3rd place in the Premiership in 2 seasons. At the start of 3rd season now and unbeaten in league and a CL group including Real and Porto.

Still some things I'm trying to get worked out (can go 6 games without losing a goal then lose 4 at once against a poor side) and the wingers have never worked quite as well as the rest of the teams (rating average well below the rest of the team), but overall I'm obviously happy with it.
