Here are screenshots from my Lliverpool game , to prove that the tactic really works (I played over 20 games in the season and I'm still unbeaten, beating Chelsea 3-2 away).
I made a little deffensive tweaks of the original tactic: the 2 CB are on zonal marking with closing down rarely and tight marking and the playmaker has been given more creativity and an attacking mentality. I scored goals with all the midfield players from all possitions, even scored with deffenders.

Midfield Domination V1 - 4-5-1 Tactic, Finally, a tactic that really works home and away Post #32
I'm playing as Newcastle United, used my own formation for the first 2 seasons with some sucess. I came 5th in the league and won the UEFA Cup in my first season and came 2nd in the league and won the FA Cup in my 2nd season.
A couple of months into the 3rd season i was languishing in 5th place and i decided to give this formation a try. It was the best decision i had made in my managerial career by far. I ended up winning the league and the champions league and almost did the treble but i got beat in the FA Cup final by Man Utd.
Ive tried a couple of other formations b4 including minimal fuss but this is the best one without doubt.
Well done Big Bob this formation is the closet thing to a super tactic on fm 2007 in my opinion!!!

I agree with you, the_clerk_82, I've tried myself a lots of tactics before deciding making this one, and none of the tactics worked both, home and away. I'm starting a game now with Arsenal and in pre-season I distroyed teams like Partizan Belgrad, Club Bruges or Sparta Prague with every game having a team passing between 77-83%. And I have very good pasers in my team in the midfield: Fabregas - oassing 20, Rosicky -19 and Bodmer - 18.

i'm trying this tactic in season 4 in the championship with Forest - my midfield 3 are Mcgugan (as the dmc (retrained)), Prutton as the hard worker and Clause Jensen as the farrowed playmaker
my problem is that i don't get midfield domination - i am not retaining the ball - at home i sometimes get 51% possession but i usually get sub 50% especially away. I am about 10 games into the season and solidly mid table
any thoughts?
When I lost friendlies against non league opposition I came to the view that my players weren't up to the one touch passing set, so i've moved the passing up to about 5 notches on the slider
i have also upped Jensen's creative freedom as suggested above
