I think to be fair bob you have jumped the gun a little bit with this tactic. A thread regarding a tactic with the title you used on the thread would indicate you have tested the tactic for a considerable amount of time, at least one whole season.

I've had tactics before that have been great for 10-15 that have then gone abit pear shaped.

I do respect the fact you have taken the time to post ur tactic, results etc but I do feel people post tactics too early without enough testing.

Bob. In late half of my second season and have just tried this for a couple of games and it has started impessively. I beat AEK Athens away in Europe 3-0 and have just hammered Arsenal 6-2 in the Premiership. Arsenal are top and had only 3 defeats in 28 games.

What I like about it is that Adu, Benayoun and Reo Coker all scored and the midfield especially Noble as playmaker were outstanding. Got caught a few times at the back but that's natural.

I have been using a 442 which has been working but I find this has helped get the best out of my midfield and attacking midfielders like Adu and Benayoun.

One thing I do notice though is that Van Den Borre, Adu and Benayouns fitness was quite low towards the end compared with a 442.

I'll keep you informed. Good start though.

Bob... Couple more games down the road, I beat Athens in the return 3-2 but then got hammered by Arsenal in the return game 5-0.

I tried an experiment (ie I cheated), I reset game and tried again with having the Centre Backs on Zonal. Lost 4-3 v Arsenal on that occasion. Both games though Henry tore me apart, ie prone to Counter Attacks from quick players like "Hold your Colour" said.

I'm impressed with it offensively and some of the passing moves are very pleasing to the eye but I think it needs some tweaks defensively.

It does annoy me this game though, when you do well with a new tactic for a couple of games and then "wham" the Al seems to suss it out.

I'm working right now to tweak the tactic defensively, maybe the 2 CB switch to closing down rarely instead of mixed, and the 2 full backs given closing down mixed instead of often. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

By the way, I played with Liverpool 3 games in the Premiership, won all 3 : 3-0 Sheff Utd (away), 2-1 West Ham (home), and 2-0 Newcastle (home).

Bob.. Have turned off Man Marking and gone with Zonal on CB and gone rarely on closing down with tight marking. I seem to be defending a bit better although I am still prone to getting hit with the odd ball over the top.
