alan hanson once said "you dont win anything with kids", is this true?, at the moment im aston villa and decided to spend there whole 40 mil budget on promising young players, bale, curtis davies, vannden borre, adu, bairnes, haynes, the only players over the age of 21 in my first team are sorenson and barry, im about half way through my first season and im 16th, can the team get better as the players age?
players need time to gel, get an assisstant team talk feedback report on the aston villa squad list, it should say the morale of the players and how well they are blending, if you stick at it, they will come good as long as you don't buy more than 4/5 players a year hope this helps
take a look at the team report and look at getting ur first team full of top players ie 4/5/6 star players, then fill the rest of the team with top young players!
but it doesnt mean that are ready for the first team yet and maybe just to weak...well some of them.
player keep getting better until 22 or 24 until they use up there potential.
The players you've got are good, but they're not great - yet. Most outfield players peak around 26-30, and will continue to develop up until about this age, so there's plenty of time for them to develop. Providing you keep a stable first XI as much as possible and you hold onto them, they should gel really well though, and as you can probably keep them playing together for five or six seasons they'll be an unstoppable force in a few years time.
First, try and get the squad members to tutor eachother, if possible. This will get you a few PPMs cycled around and hopefully mean that the "favoured player" lists on the players get populated with members of your squad (and you, hopefully). Second, be patient, it won't come good overnight.
The other thing is your squad will probably have quite low physical and mental stats due to the age of the players. You'll need to keep Barry playing pretty much every game as captain, and you should probably try and bulk them out a bit by emphasising strength training.
All in all though, your problems are down to the huge amount of players you've brought in in such a small space of time. It won't be until January or later until they start performing well as a unit.
I have two 20 year old Argentinian wonderkids with incredible stats, but they simply don't perform on the bigger stage. Attribute for attribute they are better than my starting FCs but are too raw to be considered for big games right now. I play them against bottom of the table side, cup games and meaningless European matches. Once they are 22 I'm sure they'll be first choice.
Yea I've won the league with average age 21, euro championship cup and the league with average age 22, euro champions cup again with average age 23. So from my experience age doesn't really matter as long as the players are all skilled and some of the key players 'enjoy the big games'.
The average age of my first team squad is 21. I have 3 players who are aged 27 and above. I'm still one of the toughest sides to beat. Their attributes are better than most senior players around. So I don't think there is much of an issue early on. But, perhaps in some key positions you could do better with experience.
A 30-year old player will usually perform better and more consistantly than a 19-year old with similar attributes irl and in the game. I often pick experienced but slow 33-year olds over younger and attribute-wise superiour players. There are exeptions though, wonderkids without fear like a young Owen, Ronaldo or Buffon.
