Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default how to make your strikers more 'go for goal' minded???

ummm, ive been experimeanting with this and all ive found is frustration...seems to me that the AI strikers drop off and then join the attack, get the ball and dribble straight for goal...how is this done???
ive tried reducing the mentality of my strikers ,which instructs them to drop off, but as soon as their outside the box with the ball they look for other options no matter how often i instruct them to dribble...i then observed that ALOT of guys here instruct their strikers to cross from the byline which ive found makes them try and dribble more but away from goal to reach the touchline...does anyone have any advice on how to instruct strikers to drop off but still go for goal when near the box??? thanks

Try turning crossing to rarely, run w/ ball to often, creativity a little lower.

Also, take a look at their attributes under the positions section.

You might have two strikers that are more setup men, probably not, but worth checking.

And, it might help to

Forward run mixed, run with ball often, through balls rarely, long shots rarely (unless he has 20 long shots) and croll balls rarely.

The striker I have has 18 finishing, 12 composure and importantly 20 acceleration and 20 pace(Kostadinov at age 21), he gave me 34 goals in 38 games with the above instructions. 2/3 of his goals were his individual efforts i.e. running with the ball past the defenders and shooting.

Also I need to mention I have 1 strong target man with 19 jumping and 17 heading (a regen I think), he is on everything mix because he has also 13 dribble, 15 finishing and 15 15 acceleration and pace, he's gave me 15 assits and 18 goals a season. So 1/2 of Kostadinov's goals came from header assists which often gave him a 1v1 opportunity.

thanks for the advice guys im not really struggling at the mo as defoe is the top scorer in the league lol im just feeling that a few chances are going missing and, like all guys here, want to be entertained by my lil dots as i watch them cut through the defence on the way to slotting it home...im just confused when i watch the AI strikers pass off the ball in midfield to then join the attack and take on defenders...when i take the mentality down a touch the striker will still hang around after hes played the ball...i want some quick one-two's in the midfield and a nice dribble towards goal...i have my strikers passing on short and generally the rest you guys have mentioned but still dont get that excitement up front that the AI teams seem to produce
