For those of you whom are interested, I finished a whopping 2nd place with the mighty Blues of Merseyside, and won the Mickey Mouse Cup, simply using an attacking global mentality at home (yes, even my centre backs were on attacking), and a defensive one away.
Observations
Admittedly, I did beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the first game of the season using my away tactic, so maybe this was the booster for my success. Who knows? I did notice that the away games that I won with the away formation were smash and grab type victories, but amazingly, Goodison Park was a fortress and I never lost 1 game. I beat Arsenal, Man Utd, and Chelsea at home. It's the best home record I have ever had with any team. I noticed too, that even with playing mainly mixed passing, I still dominated possession. It's worth noting too, that this is the first time I have ever played a global mentality, so I am aware that this may require more testing.
Team
Howard (GK)
Valente (LB)
Neville (RB)
Yobo (CB)
Zat Knight (CB) 2.2M legend. Buy him all the time.
Anderson Silva (LW) Surprisingly consistent
God (Arteta) (RW) Need I say anything except "Why the F isn't he in the Spain team?"
God 2 (Cahill) (CM)
Denilson (CM) on loan from Arsenal. I always sign him too. Very consistent.
Johnson (ST)
Vaughan (ST). Flogged Beattie because of his real life performances of late.
After about 24 league games I played Manuel Fernandes on the right and God on the left.

"Great Success" with a global mentality (4-4-2) Post #2
very interesting observations - would be good to see if this method works using other shapes than just the 442
i won the league with the toffees in my second season (finished 3rd in first) using a 442 diamond with farrows on Lm and Rm - i used split mentality i.e. back 5 the same and front 5 the same - God was amazin on the left
up the blues

I've recently been doing the same thing and have been achieving much more.
My logic was that in wwfans RoO in the attacking home tactic te CB's have a very attacking mentality anyway, as they in Kristianhnohr's approach. I couldn't be bothered having lots of different tactics so I just stuck everyone on global except the GK.
So far in December (in both games) I'm 5th with Athletic and 2nd with Valencia. If I loose its due to my errors in various areas but I believe that everyone on global is the mos flexible and conveniant way of playing and at the same time having everyone playing as one. I would think RoO is more effective but I find everyone on global is much much easier.

That's a brilliant set of results Everton. I've not even completed a season yet (I seem to play the first game and become immediately bored). I want to play the simple way, but I try lots of complex tactics and they aren't very successful. I really want to finish a season (at least), so I've got a few questions about your season:
1) Are the home and away tactics the only 2 that you used?
2) Did you change any sliders during a match? For example, did you up timewasting with a few minutes to go?
3) Did you set offside trap or counter attack?
4) Did you apply any tight marking?
5) Did you apply any opposition instructions?
Sorry if any of the questions have already been answered.

I would really appreciate you trying this out and getting back to me with the results since I do not have as much time as I used to. Keep in touch mate. Your answers:
1) Yes, they are the only 2 I used
2) I went all out attack if I was in desperation, and time wasted only away from home in the last 5 or so. I always pass down flanks against a narrow tactic or one with no protection down the wings. (4-1-3-2, 5-3-2)
3) No offside trap, no counter EVER.
4) I did actually have my CBs on man marking (no tight marking) in the away tactic but never at home, and only if my opponents played 2 up top.
5) I've never EVER played with this because I don't know how it works.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask, mate. And if you do try this tactic, please let me know how you do, I would honestly be intrigued. Keep me posted

I would also like to state that it is very rarely that I post tactics or contribute to this forum in such a way as I have, simply because everything we post is theory based and there is usually no evidence to back up such claims. However, I make an exception this time simply because I have never had a team perform as well (results, match engine, and stats), and I am hoping that I am 'on to something'. So, if anyone can help in proving or disproving my theories, I would greatly appreciate it.
