Hey Church, does your assman have low man management stat? I also had that problem come up when I let my assman do team talks during the friendlies. I have never let them do it again. I looked and the guy had poor man managment skills.

First thing I looked at; 14 in man management (his best feature), 11 in discipline.

Not had that problem with my either of my Assistants yet. Although I'm a bit mad when it comes to controlling the games - I control friendlies, full games and even the U-19s - so there's less opportunity for him to **** the players off.

The main problem I have is the reports he gives on my triallists. I won't offer a contract to a triallist unless my Ass Man thinks he is any good. So, I get the message "Ass Man thinks 'Spotty McUseless' is a very talented player who has a great future in the game. We should make every effort to sign him." The player looks decent, so I sign him up.

4 months later, "Ass Man think that 'Spotty McUseless' has not progressed in the way we would have liked. He recommends you release him from his contract as he has no future at the club." Well, thanks. You couldn't have told me that before I offered him a 4-year contract?

Along the same lines, I find them useless when it comes to the youth teams. They are all pretty "joe blow reckons young defender is a decent member of our squad." Or even worse, when you go to offer a contract he believes the player would be "an active member of the first team" then you sign the guy and get "believes player x will struggle to hold down a place in the side." And finally, if you go to renew a young reserve player or youth and the assman "doesn't believe renewing xx's contract would be worthwhile" yet get a report and "xx is showing signs of developing into a good player" or something equivalent. Why wouldnt I want to renew the contract if that is the case?

There's definitely something approaching a bug with Ass Man reports, mainly relating to triallists.

When they're sat in my Senior Squad, I can get a report on them, but if I move them to the U-19s (so I can sort out which ones are worth getting), the Ass Man's report can change. Simply because I've moved him to the other squad. I mean, come on. Make your mind up.

I find them rubbish as they change constantly. One week the arseman is a keen admirer, the next week he think the player is just useful. It's not just with moving them. You'll find that they change pretty frequently overall; too much to be any of use IMO (but I still use it anyway :eek I honestly think it's down to your team form. If you are on a winning streak it seems the ass man rates your players more highly overall, while if the team is struggling, all of a sudeen they aren;t near as good.

I think it also depends on your usage of the player. Fringe players in my squad often seem to get the "not progressing" message. My sycophantic AssMan has never told me that placing a player on the list was a bad decision either

My (now ex) Ass Man is a twat. He ****ed off to Sheffield United mid season and left me in the lurch.

So I promoted the current caretaker Newcastle manager to take his place.
