Shocking, I know, but I was actually glad about a transfer window for the first time ever yesterday.
Picture the scene. I had to sell my San Marino international SC for 1.6 million (as he was out of contract in the summer and wouldn't renew), so rather than let all that money burn a hole in my pocket I broke my record transfer fee and bought an 18yo winger for 160k that my scouts liked a lot (and I trust them - I've sold nearly 2.5 million worth of strikers so far that they've found and have cost me next to nothing).
Anyway, MR signs on Jan 30th.
Jan 31st, AM rolls up. I get a bid for co-ownership on him. Rejected. I change his asking price a bit to deter frivolous bids.
Jan 31st, PM. Inter bid 2.2 million for 50% of this guy  I'm thinking it's another case of the kid having "I am good" stamped on his forehead [(c) Taips]. What do I do? That's a fantastic offer, and it's a 2 year deal so I know I keep him 2 seasons even if they outbid me for the other 50% at the end of it. I really don't want to sell him though. If he's that good I could be challenging in Serie B by the end of the two years and I'd want to keep him, and the board have shown they'll happily put us in huge debts if they want to increase the stadium.
I vacillate. The transfer window closes. I don't have to decide Hooray for transfer windows \o/
I sometimes ask for an increase in transfer fees from another Club in order for the transfer window to allow me to keep the young sucker 'til the end of the season.
I don't just play the game, I play the game too, in order to stay competitive.
If they really want him they'll bid for him for the following season
