Hi all – having read the LLM guidelines and been to see Frank I’m all ready to start my first venture in LLM territory.
But before I do a quick question – if you are going to manage in a foreign country is it the done thing to keep your own nationality? Or do you choose your nationality so it is the same as the country you are managing in?
I ask because, as I remember it, in previous versions of FM it was quite unusual/hard for a player with a low manager reputation to get a job or be offered a job overseas. I’m just curious if your nationality would inhibit your club/career choices further into the game.
Thanks for any suggestions/opinions and hopefully see you all in 3 seasons time.
Some people play with their own nationality, some people always use a different nationality to their own and some people take on the nationality of the league they are playing in. There is no hard and fast guideline for this although it is easier to move jobs if you have a higher reputation nationality. (English, Italian, etc.)
Being a jetsetting kind of manager who rarely starts in England anyway I don't find keeping my own nationality to be an issue. I've had reasonable success in Italy but only had 3 or 4 job offers in 6 or 7 years.
