Transfer and loan listed. (Also assistant manager question)
Is it acceptable to use the filter to check for transfer listed and loanlisted players? As they would be advertised as being so I would think it was fair play. Is it?
Also on another note is it acceptable to use the feature of your assistant filtering out unrealistic options? This is another thing I thought would be used RL.
Im about to set off On my first LLM adventure so need to know the answer to these before I start. =)

It's your game, Panicofbeliever, so do what you think is right. If you feel that you see an interesting guy on the transfer list you can afford, then just send out your scouts for him and see for yourself.
As for the assistant: make use of him. After all, he's there for a reason.

Personally, I make the determination on the issue of looking for transfer listed and loan players based on the saved game in question. If I'm at a club that is in serious debt and has offered absolutely nothing in transfer funds, then I will use the search function to find loan players and to have my assistant filter out unrealistic prospects.
This is because scouts pretty much ignore loan players in the game because the scouts are looking only for players that could be realistically signed on a permanent deal at the club. And that excludes all those loan players that wouldn't join the club but would agree to a loan deal for a season.
Also, if you can only afford to sign a couple of players on a free, then you'd better search for them right away. By the time scouts recommend free transfered players, they've already been signed elsewhere. The scouting is far slower for human clubs than for AI clubs. So if you need to get players on a free, then have your assistant filter out unrealistic targets, and hopefully you'll find some.
If I have transfer funds, then I strictly use my scouts. They will find plenty of players to potentially sign, and there is no hurry. So it depends entirely on the saved game situation.

Seasoned LLaMas don't use the transfer listed option on the Search Screen because there's nothing like it in real life.
Guys say there's websites, Players' Union, etc., etc.....but it's not like FM.
We use Scouts to find players, rely on media reports, look at best player lists (i.e. Top Scorer, Highest Rating...) and scout them.
The only, the only, time a real LLaMa will use the Screen is in a complete emergency for a loanee GK, when the chips are down, when there's no other option.
Like the Cosmopolitan one said, it's your game, play as you will, but the Forum Header and the Featured Topics cover all this.
Good luck, btw.

As you can see, that's the official transfer list of the German Bundesliga. You can get it online, per fax, and the clubs in Germany get it as a copy per email and normal mail as well. It's almost empty now because the transfer period is over.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than use that screen.

and that's the point, Ian. I don't see a problem with filtering for transfer listed players. I agree with you though that filtering for stats is absolutely unrealistic, and I wished those parts wouldn't be together.
But if someone wants to use the list exclusively for seeing players who are available for transfer, then it's absolutely valid, I would say. Perfect example for using your brain to play LLM in the right style.
You can do lots of bullshit with the tactics screen as well (like loading tactics), but we all agree that we use that screen realistically, in a way that we deem appropriate.
