I am pleased to admit that LLM on FM06 has rekindled my love for this game. For the first time since CM03-04 I am enjoying a long term save, the second already on this incarnation of the game.
I have had success and failure, struggles with tactics, good and bad signings and the fun has not diminished.
I find myself looking forward to getting home to continue the game, especially tonight when I go home to face the final game of the season in League 2. I have already won the title but tonight will be the time to determine the squad for the new season in a much higher division than Hyde Utd. could have possibly dreamt of.
From some of the other thread around, I know that a few of us feel the same but what about the rest of you, is there something missing in this game for you?
Of course there could be improvements but FM06 has that real 'one more continue' feel about it. I also can't wait to get home and load it up. Usually, I have to wait 'till the kids are in bed, but sometimes I have to watch the little one upstairs while the good lady finishes dinner. Happy days.
When I look back on my FM (CM) history, which started with CM00/01 I must say that every new version of CM/FM kept me hooked for a longer time then the previous one.
FM2006 is realy keeping me addicted. The only thing I would like to see improved is managing finances. It might not be a manager's job, but I remember playing "Premier Manager 99" where you had the option to choose your sponsorship deals and adjust the price of a ticket. So you could increase ticket cost for a match where you expect alot of attendance (like a playoff final or an European match) or lower it for those first round cup games.
I totally agree, although to be honest I have been addicted to just about every version of CM or FM that has come out since I first started (somewhere in the late nineties I think).
The difference for me with this version has been that I've found it much harder than previous versions when I would often get easy multiple promotions. Whether this is due to choosing harder teams/divisions or the game itself I'm not entirely sure but I get a feeling it's this version.
Another good thing about this version is every once in a while I still seem to come across things that I haven't seen before. No better thing than coming across some player message or news item that you've never seen before.
It's Football Manager, not Football Chairman or Football Accountant, oya. Mucking around with prices is not the manager's job.
i'm actually on a hiatus atm. Real Life⢠has interrupted my save a bit, as the biggest problem I have with FM these days is time - I can't contemplate playing unless I have at least an hour to an hour and a half free because by the time I've loaded, played and saved, anything less leaves me no time to have actually done anything in the game.
CM01/02 was the last game that I found as riveting as FM06.
CM4 was dire, rushed to release as it was. The second patch of the next game got the series back to a playable level again, but the release of this incarnation, with steady progress through the previous two, has done it for me.
There are still problems with it, namely the dreadful gap between what happens in the game and the commentary, and how a player losing a goal confines him to a 5, regardless how well he plays otherwise.
FM06 has me more immersed in it than any previous version, of that I'm certain.
Manager contracts and budgetary flexibility at the beginning of each season are excellent addtions and I am begining to learn to love the new training module and the way it is presented.
I also get the feeling that my players have more "personality" than in previous versions as they seem more affected by their environment than previous verions.
The player position screen is a fantastic addition, when you are scrabbling around for anyone who can slot in at DL (or left-sided sweeper) and do a job.
I am playing online for the first time ever and I have to say that takes the game into a whole new dimension.
I'll take this opportunity to thank Pete, Vlad, Harwin, Jason and Remco for making me feel so welcome. Thanks guys!
