i'm actually on a hiatus atm. Real Life™ has interrupted my save a bit, as the biggest problem I have with FM these days is time - I can't contemplate playing unless I have at least an hour to an hour and a half free because by the time I've loaded, played and saved, anything less leaves me no time to have actually done anything in the game.
I have played many Manager type games running back to Premier manager 93.Have usually had a Llama game going on some type over the years as well.FM06 is just brilliant, Ive yet to be successful as a llama in FM06, its been struggle town every step of the way so far and Im loving it.I can remember taking Halifax to TH CL in 04 version far too easily.FM06 is a huge challenge to be even Division 1.My only gripe is that CLub Ambition seems to relate too much on whether you keep your players orn not.
Having played every version of the game since CM96/97, I've finally grown bored of it. Fm06 does look like a great game, from the little I've seen from the online game, but I think it's reached a point where "too much effort" is required. Playing online once a week is as much as I can handle at the moment.
Nothing will ever approach the feeling of gaming satisfaction and "addictiveness" I used to get from CM3 and CM01/02.
Many Llamas have been playing the series for 10 odd years and during that time most of our lives have drastically changed. Gone are the girlfriend pub and DMing days, Now for many of us it’s wives, kids, jobs, mortgages, cutting the grass, and a spot of FM after you have walked the dog. Frankly I am surprised so many of us are still playing the game SI must have done something right!
I honestly think if 10 years ago you had a choice of playing FM06 or CM3. FM would be win hands down.
I've been looking back at old SI Newsletters and stuff trying to figure out when I first started playing CM.
It appears the first time I played was following the 1998 World Cup, I played CM2 and then CM97-98 prior to the release of CM3 on Friday, 26th March, 1999.
A really interesting part of the Newsletter says:

We apologise for the delay in the release of this game. The simple fact is that it took longer to complete than we had expected. We can assure you that the delay has been necessary for the benefit of the game. We will do our best to make sure that there is no confusion over release dates in the future.
If only they'd been allowed to do that by Eidos on the release of CM4.
