My French LLM game with Bayonne has just about run it's course. I'm trying to decide where I want to start my new career. Is there any league which compares to Conf. North/South difficulty wise or is that as hard as it gets? My main objection to starting in Britain is that my machine can really only handle about 11 leagues and loading all the way to the regional conferences takes up 7 of those spots. I really prefer to larger playable world than that but if most people think that starting in one of the conferences regional in England gives the toughest game, that's what I'll go with.
Also, in my current (soon to be previous) game I (stupidly) loaded all players from Brazil. That really seemed to unbalance the game as almost all teams in Europe, even LL teams, had a full quota of Brazilian super players. I don't imagine that loading all players from a smaller country such as Wales would have the same effect, would it? I want to make sure that some of the smaller nations have enough players to fill a side so I don't have to take my first international job somewhere totally unrealistic. I'm sure that if I had all UK leagues loaded there would be more than enough Welshman to fill out a squad, but I'm thinking I should start even lower than Wales if I want to be realistic, more along the lines of Uganda, Namibia, Faroe Islands, or Canada even.
Finally, I realize that these aren't fully LLM questions; but GQ posters aren't concerned with the same things as you guys, so that's why I've asked here.
They're not bad questions. Firstly, I think it's pretty much agreed that loading players from a particular nation unbalances the game. Try the largest db you can handle instead.
As for difficult leagues. The Swedish second division is difficult (it's the 4th tier down).
Filter what you've read and decide based on what the established LLaMas say.
I personally prefer the English Leagues because, as you know, my preference is for promotion and there's five promotions available before you're in the top League.
I like the Scottish Leagues because of the lack of money, the shocking reputations of the Teams (no-one decent will sign) and the promotion spot for a single Team into the SPL.
The step up to Serie B had always been a challenge for me and four levels still provides adequate depth. Plus you get the cups out the way early.
