Two orange teams in Brazil, too. Which is nice.

I kind of find England a bit too easy to get promotion. A good cup run can make you alot of money for transfers.Brazil is tough. If you succeed in the 1st half of the comp, your lined up agianst the top premier teams and they dont half give you a mauling.
Argentina leagues are pretty tough to get promoted too.4 teams get promoted for 2nd Div.Top 2 side play for promotion winner goes through loser goes into a home/away game against bottom premier team. Other spots playoff agaisnt each other and then against 2 premier league teams.Seen years where only 1 2nd div team got through.Ive had some serious floggings in these playoffgames.. 11-2 agg against Gimnesia.

In reality teams "promoted to the Third Division (Série C) come from the State Leagues (best teams from each state league). But it is impossible to code this in FM.

Hey, i'm a brazilian also!

It is possible if they have the number of clubs that will go up from each State League.

If you have that, you sort the clubs by position in the league.

So you take for promotion the first ones that aren't already in the league, excluding the ones that where relegated last year!

Not that this is worth the effort...

I could explain how Brazilian league structure works (both in-game and IRL, which is a bit different), but it would probably be too boring.

If anyone really want me to, though, I could do it.

Ok, then. I'll explain how it works IRL, than later the things that are different in the game. Here goes:

IRL:

First Division: the main division of the Country, consisting of 20 teams. Each team play against each other twice. Last two teams are relegated for Second Division.

Second Division: This is the first year that this has the same number of teams and competition format as the First Division. Champion and 2nd placed teams are promoted. Bottom two teams get relegated to the Third Division.

Third Division: Divided in 16 small groups, each having 4 teams. Teams are divided so that they don't have to travel long distances for group matches.
The first and second team in each group qualify for the second phase, which is a Play-Off consisting of 16 clashes. The competition continues in a Cup format until there are four teams left.
These teams will then form the group for the Final Stage. They play against each other twice, and the Champion and 2nd position teams get promoted to the Second Division.

Apart from teams recently relegated from the Second Division, which are automatically in the Third Division, teams qualify depending on their result in the State Championship.

Brazilian Cup: All teams in First and Second Division play, alongside with the best teams in the State Championship (or another state level competition, depending on the State) of the previous year. Teams playing the Copa Libertadores don't play the Brazilian Cup.

State Championships have different playing formulas in each State.

The differences in the game are that Third Division has 16 groups of 8 teams, and it has relegation, which doesn't happen IRL.
