Not too sure what you're trying to say, dGreb. But I hope you're not implying it's ok not to scout players before you sign them.
Not that..
I was laking about finding players and building a shirtlist... this is allowed isn't it?

That's the comment that worried me. But if you're talking about finding players in news items, top stats in your league, played well against you etc, then that's . Just remember to scout them before you sign them, even if you disagree with the scout.

I'm pretty relaxed on signing players should the scout say anything from decent signing to excellent (depending on my squad depth), but I think you have to draw the line if he says they're not good enough to play for your club, otherwise you might as well not have bothered scouting the player in the first place.
I've lost count of the times I've found myself in disagreement with a scout's evaluation of a player. A far as I'm concerned, the scout is there to show me the numbers - the final judgement belongs to me.
So, you spot a player in the media. You send a scout out. He says the player is crap. You sign him anyway?
Seems to me that you might as well not have scouted him. I agree that much of the time the "degree" of recommendation given is irrelevant and you can override the scout, but if I scout a player (and usually I get two reports on a player I specifically want scouted) and both my scouts come back "not good enough" then I won't sign the player.
Havign said all that, I very seldom sign players that haven't been brought to my attention by one of my scouts in the first place.
I think what Ksotis was saying and I do the same, is that if a scout recommends you a player, and you look at him and you find that he is not suitable for your club, then you say no.
I never signed any player that was marked as not good enough.

I will agree with KFoo in this one dudes..
You are in a LL Club, your scout IS a worse crap than you are!
You don't need to be a slave to your scout, you have opinion too... Anyway IRL you see everytime Chairman disagreeing with managers, managers with coaches and on...
I thing that the rule "scout first" is valid because the decision to sign a player neve is a lonely job of the manager, but his voice must be the final one!
Keeping the reality of the game is done by not using anything that gives you advantage on AI but yourself, or we do better beeing in holiday the full time and let the machine run the club!
