With apologies to John Lennon. Here we go...

Enskede - 2004 - Swedish 2nd Div East Svealand

P22 W8 D4 L10 F27 A30 P28 - Pos 8th
Swedish Cup: dumped in the 1st rnd before I joined

I put my faith in Frank and he repaid it with Enskede of the Swedish 2nd div (East Svealand). At first sight it looks like a decent draw - evidently a recently relegated side with tons of (crap) coaches and a full complement of reserves.

On the flip side: the club is losing money hand over fist, The board are demanding a promotion challenge and the new manager hasn't a clue what he's doing. A season of tactical nonsense leaves us marooned in mid-table.

Still struggling to score goals. We make 2nd spot briefly before the defence falls apart and we slide. The crap coaches have become a burden - highly paid and on long contracts they're stopping me splashing out on new players.

Gradually getting to grips with the tactical side, but not enough to challenge for honours. We make 5th spot eventually due to other sides slipping up. Fortunately the board have come to their senses and expect no more than a relegation scrap.

Enskede - 2006 - Swedish 2nd Div East Svealand

P22 W9 D8 L5 F32 A22 P35 - Pos 3rd
Swedish Cup: dumped in 2nd rnd

A frustrating season. The finances are getting pretty ropey so I have to sell off or release some reserves to buy in a new MC (at £3k still my record signing) and a young but promising DC.

One of my young strikers suddenly hits form this season - bagging 17 in 22 starts. With his help we inch up the table and finish respectably close to the winners.

In the close season I clear out a load of no-hoper reserves and inherit a bunch of fresh-faced youngsters

Swedish Cup: a giant-killing run to the 4th rnd

Man this league is tough to get out of. Even if you win the division you have to play off against the winners of another region. This is irrelevant, however, as Sparvagen storm away with the title by 10 clear points with the help of two strikers who are each worth more than all my players combined. They don't get promoted though, the choking poofs.

Highlight of the season: a Cup 2nd round victory 3-2 over Premier Division Helsingborg. Enskede romp to the 4th round where another Premier team, Malmo FF, crush us like a beetle.

Swedish Cup: hammered in the 2nd rnd

Like the song says: It's now or never. My carefully nurtured crop of youngsters are hitting prime time just as the club totters on the brink of bankruptcy.

Enskede make an all-out assault on the league. We play youth teamers in the cup and get duly dumped by Premier opposition. The ploy works, though, and we put together a stonking run to the end of the season which includes a 7-1 demolition of IFK Eskilstuna.

The play-off is a formality - twin 3-0 victories over an exhausted Torslanda side see us marching into the glory of the 1st Division.
