Norway win the World Cup. Despite a creditable QF loss to Italy, the Swedish coach quits.

Yours truly picks up the poisoned chalice. First task is to win a Euro Champs 2020 qualifying group ahead of Serbia/Montenegro, Liechtenstein, Bosnia and Slovakia.

Not a fecking clue what's going on with all this 'national pool' malarkey. This could be more hassle than it's worth.

League title is secured without defeat. Injuries to strikers make goals harder to come by but the defence is solid. We find ourselves in a nightmare Champs League group with Arsenal, Inter and Haifa. A couple of hard fought draws with the big boys and a win over Haifa is not a bad return. Royal League success is a consolation prize.

Our sole UEFA Cup tie - against Benfica - is a disaster. I have a Bobby Robson moment and accidentally play the reserve GK at LB. Halfway through the match I notice he's scoring 3 pts - but then proceed to substitute the wrong player. We lose home and away and I'm disgusted.

Royal League: Winners (3-0 over Lillestrom)

Swedish and Royal League titles defended, but the real target is the Champions League. A kindly draw this time around! We graduate first from a group containing Udinese, Lyon and Zilina. Ajax and Valencia are seen off with solid home performances. Leverkeusen give us a scare in the semis, but go down to 10 men early in the 2nd leg and gift us the game.

So to Dortmund for the final against the mighty Barcelona. Their team is just awesome - even with my best defensive formation I can only hope to restrict their total shots and try to nick one on the break. Our keeper plays a blinder - saving 12 out of 19 attempts. But we never look like scoring and hang on grimly for penalties.

It's a bit of a non-event in the end. Barca score their first penalty and the next 9 men from both sides miss. Can't complain about the result but I think this is as close as I'm going to get with AIK. Time to think about jumping ship. The only question is: Will the next ship be a luxury yacht or an old rust bucket?

I have to admit that I was unable to watch the penalty shootout and had to go for a cup of tea. So I can't tell if the missed spotkicks were saved or punted into the stand.

I'm just as bad with penalties on FM than in real life. For Portugal v England I got so distressed I had to leave the pub and walk home. Didn't find out the result until 40 mins later.

I managed to keep it together for Liverpool v Milan by getting horribly drunk.
