Welcome to what I hope will be my first and last update thread for FM08. As always, brevity is the key, so let's get straight into it, shall we?
2007-08
Being the lazy Aussie I am, I holidayed. Originally the idea was to holiday for eight seasons so I could start my managerial career on my 30th birthday, but I really couldn't be bothered waiting two whole days to start my game - I've always been the type who enjoys rushing in haphazardly and ruining everything. Besides, I felt an affinity with a little club in Catalunya...

2008-09 Sant Andreu - Spanish Second Division B3
Media prediction: 16th
Why oh why did I decide to move to Barcelona? No players, no transfer budget, no hope. Or was there? A bit of last-minute scout-wrangling got me a first team I wouldn't be too embarrassed about - mainly loans - and we hover just above the relegation places for the first third of the season, before the team gels and we ease comfortably out of trouble.
Final position: 12th

2009-10 Sant Andreu - Spanish Second Division B3
Media prediction: 15th
Fueled by a whole lotta loan signings and some misguided optimism, we take the league apart... at least, we would have taken the league apart if it weren't for the teams placed above us. Hey, it makes sense to me. Still, I signed some quality staff, we were in the hunt for a playoff spot for most of the season, and I found some great players coming out of contract. The only concern is the finances; the only thing keeping the club afloat is the goodwill of the board.
Final position: 7th

2010-11 Sant Andreu - Spanish Second Division B3
Media prediction: 12th
Well, the season I choose not to rely on loan signings also happens to be the same season the board decide to revert the club to semi-professional status. "Fine!" I say, "I'll do it without your help!", before realising that I'm talking to a computer. We toy with the prospect of the idea of taking a playoff spot, but ultimately settle for mid-table anonymity.
Final position: 9th

Saint Andrew: Patron Saint Of Left-sided Sweepers Post #2
Jordi, if you could give me any background on Sant Andreu I'd really appreciate it. Judging from their kit, are they a fiercely Catalan club?
Unfortunately my Catalan/Spanish isn't very good (I blame my public school education) and I'm sure I could send you a bouquet (or should that be bucket?) of fine Aussie beers if you are willing to give me a hand.
