any ideas on how i could manage a small nation ranked under 150 in the world using guam iraq pakistan and so on as examples as when i load it up i only get to manage big nations?

Make sure you load all the players from the small nation you want to manage when setting up a game.

Alternatively if you want to have more choices, you could create a DDT file which can help you retain all the players of more than one nation. For more on this, read the sticky thread in Editor's Hideway.
