are you serious? In spain all people believe that a CL is more important than La Liga. In your domestic league you have to be consistent, but in CL you play against best clubs in Europe.

How then you explain 1998 when Real sacked the coach when they won the champions league and finished 4th, or is it 5th, in the league?

The league is every manager`s bread and butter.Winning the CL is great but ask any real liverpool fan and they would be more than happy to give up there CL victory that year for the EPL title for most clubs that go into the CL is all about the cash you make from it.Benitez maybe done great in europe for liverpool but the fans and board want that EPL title and if he doesnt deliver it then he too will be sacked

Winning the CL is more important for fans,players and boards of every European team not based in the British Isles. In England especially, they consider nothing more holy than the EPL.
