The way it is now is better than the empty pitch and is as per previous FMs.

Now you can choose Home Team stats, and then pitch, and it will flick back to home team status when there is no activity (not just the overview)... so you can get a quick glance at player fitness etc.

obviously people have different ways to watch their games. some watch the whole game some only key. some set match speed fast some slow.
if you watch a game in fast match speed and only key scenes it obviously will switch every other second to the pitch and back. i see no reason why you shouldnt be able to set the viewing to the pitch for the full game.
without the patch you could do all of the other things too, the patch only takes away one possible viewing setting which happens to be the one i prefer....

I watch key highlights, and dont see ANY point in seeing an empty pitch, it looks stupid players coming and going... showing the last viewed page makes much more sense... and it's been like this since FM05!
