I always run small database, which most on here would argue against but I can't be doing with lengthy run time.

On small I run England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Holland and Portugal and in doing so get a large database of players to choose from, plenty of teams to choose from and the game runs relatively quickly.

I'm currently running England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Scotland and Spain on Large Database.

Takes Slightly long to process but I can live with that.

Also, remember that you can tweak it on the Detail Level tab of the Game Setting menu.
