Which players have you had in your team who have not lived up to expectations or basically haven't been good enough, then you've sold them and they have went on to be superstars.

Mine was Jan Schlaudraff at FC Bayern, 8 goals in 21 matches wasn't bad but he was behind Podolski, Klose and Toni and worth £5.25m so I sold him (for that amount) to Stuttgart. One season later he is worth £12.5m scored 27 in 29 league games, got German player of the year and European Golden boot.

On FM07, i bought Adriano for £50m.. come end of the season, he had only scored 16 goals in 40+ games. :thdn:
Not worth the money.

Ended up selling him for 15m, 35mill down the drain and the next two seasons he scores around 28 in a similar amount of games and gets striker of the year once, coming second the year after.

Bought Cacau from Stuttgart (i think) on a different save, had nice stats and seemed to be scoring for them so i snapped him up for about 8.5M.
Never made it past 3rd choice striker, was good to bring on for a late goal sometimes.. but i intended him to be a main striker and he just was a waste of 8M really.

Sold him on to Sevilla for 4M (Half price ¬_¬) and he becomes thier top scorer

Happend to me with Jo and Ramon too.. (Seeing a pattern of brazillians here )

I bought Kris Boyd for £13m for Hull. In three years in the Premiership he scored 4 goals in about 70 matches (he didn't do much for assists either). He wouldn't sign a new contract after the three years and then left for Portsmouth. He scored two against me and ended up with about 15 goals in his first season there. I also got relegated that season.

Maybe those players didn't adapt to the league very quickly/ or at all or maybe they didn't play well with the formation/tactics you were using.he fact that they went to another club and started scoring does indicate that there may have been a reason that they weren't scoring for you!

Indeedys but I had Klose and Toni as my first choice instead of Sclaudraff and Klose got 29 in his first season and 25 in his second, Toni got 22 and 18. And Schlaudraff was a German and went to a team in the same league as me.

Anyway i've fallen out with him now and when I become national manager he is finished.

I bought Diego Forlan for £7 million to Sampdoria because he was scoring loads in Spain and all season for me he scored seven goals an he started every match. He started to complain about not settling in to the area so Racing loaned him out and he was scoring loads there so i sold him to them for £2 mill.

The opposite happened to me in my current FM save.
I had Rafa Van der Vaart in my Sampdoria side, scoring 30+ goals for 3 seasons in a row. He was my star player & captain, but he got unsettled so i sold him to AC Milan for £42.5m.
He only lasted 1 season at Milan, starting only 13 games, scoring no goals.
Milan ended up selling him back to me for only £5.5m, & he ended up scoring 27 goals in midfield for me in his 1st season back.

I bought Jermain Defoe for free or about £2million (I forget as all my player historys from 2007/2010 have been deleted!!)

He's now worth £12million
