I don't know about your game,but every time I sell a player or just release him on a free...he comes back and haunts me...Every time they play like mad-dogs against their former club (that is my club)

Has this happened to you too ?

happens everytime. i was at derby, sold earnshaw to WBA. two years later he scored a hatrick against me. but the thing is that was is first game of the season 18 games in! he only played another 4 games after that, and yes one of those 4 was against me scoring another 2!

Oh come on it happens far too much to be coincidence. I love Football Manager and am really enjoying FM2008 despite my problems with Clyde but to suggest that someone who was on loan at the club when I arrive, didn’t play and then ignored the media comments should score a hat-trick (his only goals that season) against me is very unlikely. He was a pile of my ar*e by the way and had no right to even be playing never mind get three.

I know people will say he was trying to prove a point but his stats tell me he is poo. My scout said he was poo therefore he was. Even Miniscout told me he was poo. If Paul Shaw had played against Arsenal when he was at Millwall in real life he would have been lucky to get a sniff. In FM he would have got a brace at least.

Whenever i play aginst former players i usually pass a comment to the media which ends up getting essien to murder them in match, it's quite amusing, i think his status is "looking forward to taking player x out of the game". Classic.

But yes i do find a higher than average amount of goals conceeded to numptees i've let go. Whether it's a bug or just SI not tweaking the feature i don't know, roll on 8.02

I would suggest never commenting on former players.

I used to always do it, then came the curse of John-Paul Kissock ! I had him loan for a season in the Championship about 5 seasons back and always made a comment about how my team was better without him.

Then....

One day... He totally single handedly decimated my team. I have never before or since seen anything like it in any FM game. In the first half alone HE ALONE had 11 shots on goal, scored 2 goals running round my defence and got 2 assists. I was 4-0 down at HT !!!

Luckily the took him off later in the match, but Christ... never again.

This happens so often IRL too though. It's not a bug but it maybe tweaked a bit I guess. I've never really had a problem. I always say that the players is a great player but we now how to cope with him. My players get wound up but the former player is always unaffected.
