It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Anyone managed to create a tactic that lasts for more than two or three seasons?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone been able sustain a good level of success over a number of years by continuously using the same one formation or maybe by just making minimal tweaks to it?

I've not done too badly with some of the formations off this board or indeed with my own tactics. However, my success is usually only lasts for about two or three seasons (at most) before the CPU inevitably figures out how to start getting the best of my teams.

Anyway, if the answer to the above is yes, what teams were you using and what style of formation did you play?

Yes. I always use the same formation, 4-4-2. Of course, I alter my tactics game-by-game, depending on the opposition, but my formation only changes if I'm chasing a late goal and i will go 4-2-4 or even 2-4-4 for the last few minutes.

I did have success with a 442 then a 451 which both lasted quite a while, then went sour, then I had to use them selectively according to the AI's formations to get them working again.

I used a varient of Fuss's 4-4-2 tactic with my Sunderland team and only changed it once in 8 seasons. In this time I won the premiership 5 times, the champions league 3 or 4 times and umpteen other cups.

After about 4 seasons of success I went on a bit of a losing streak so chenged to something else for about 10 games before switching back to my original tactic and kept on succeeding.
I rarely changed tactics from gaem to game or in game either. I made a pretty defensive version of the tactic which I sometimes used when away against the very top teams. But that was it really.

Saying that I've just started a new game with Darlington and I'm having absolutely no success with this tactic so maybe I was just lucky to find a great tactic for my team. I will switch back to this tactic once my Darlo team gets stronger in the hope I can get the same kind of results from it.

Hi,

I've stuck to the same tactic with no tweaks for Cisco Roma. I have taken them from Serie C2 to Serie A over several seasons.

I do not think the game cracks tactics.

I'm in my third season with West Ham and my counter attacking 4-1-3-2 with two wingers has been going strong well into my third season with only minor tweaks, if you tell me how to upload it I will?

im exactly the same. i always stick to my same formation (a staggered 4-5-1) but i do little tweaks during the game where i see fit. i dont want the hassle of changing formations all the time and having to get the players used to the changes
