That's it! I'm done with this game. Hours of setting "weaker foot' and stupid individual close down and won the treble with leeds in the 3rd season.
The Method: "Cleon's Sheffield united thread" style tweaking + Tactic Rotation (4-4-2 till December and 4-5-1 from jan to end).
The Conclusion: I finally got the consistency and the results that I wanted but lost something essential. I did not have fun. The tedious setting changes have pummeled me into a boredom induced coma. The football matched the method - dull, boring and set-piece dependent.
What used to be: Ever since CM became FM, both branches have not fared well. FM is miles ahead of CM - True but CM 01/02 is still remains the best of the lot. I'm inclined to blame the 2d tactical engine for this decline in enjoyment. Here's why.
CM3- 2d overview implemented. Massive disappointment. - Owen-3-4-3 <-says enough. Totally unrealistic score lines.
CM4- cant remeber much but i know it sucked. Totally unrealistic score lines (12-0 wins).
CM 03/04- Every team had touble with pace. Diablo and Scramjet tore teams apart with ease. Totally unrealistic score lines.
FM 2005 - This was quite acceptable. It still had some bugs and issues but was very promising and fun.
FM 2006 - The Corner Disaster, Unorganized defense just made it a huge suck-fest.
FM 2007 -
IMO the worst of the lot. The team talks have become so boring that most just set it to assistant. The method used to apply settings is so tedious and time consuming. This game can be summed up by one word - Frustration.
It seems the future will follow FM 2007. I expect FM Live to be tactically identical to FM 2007 and will not be buying it. I know SI still runs a healthy profit margin and couldn't care less about all the rants. I also know that years of mental association of EPL with FM will help SI retain a substantially large fan base for the foreseeable future. This means that suggestions from a minority group wont even matter. Hence, there is no option but to move on.
CM/FM has given me so much enjoyment over the years and i want to thank all those involved with the creation of the games. Thank you SI/Eidos, for all the wonderful memories.
