It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Ok guys, Been playing this series since the original release when i was 12. Never really got into uploading my tactics over the years but after reading some inspirational posts recently i've decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

Ususally (fm07) I stumble after several games no matter what tactic I use and end up having to change it several times over the course of a season. This was something i wanted to put to an end - I wanted a "one tactic suits all opposition and weathers"

What I set out to do was try something i wouldnt normally, something new. It had to be tight defensive play however be able to attack with consistent effectiveness.

I decided to lose the play as a team mentality ive always had in my tactics and broke the team in 2. I set up one team as a defending team and another as an attacking (both consisting of 5 players). What I came up with was a 505/4132 formation.

The passes are short and at a slow tempo. The width is narrow (keeping things tight) however focus is down the flanks (so good wingers are important).

The defensive line is similar to the mentality keeping players in close support of each other.

The Right sided striker is a target man, and the left sided striker requires good finishing (berbatov and podolski worked well for me in one test scoring 90+goals between them).

I am not saying this tactic is perfect (far from it) however this is the first tactic i have created that beats the mid season rerank and allows me to score more goals in the last 20 mins than the AI.

In regards to tweaking, I usually dont have to (as a sub normally suffices) however i do alter the Farrows on the wingers and adjust width and passing settings a notch or two depending on if im strugging against any given opposition.

I tend to win many games 3-0 4-0 and when i lose it only ever tends to be by the odd goal.

Main Test - Spurs

1st year
Won Premiership
Won Uefa Cup
Won League Cup

2nd Year
2nd in Prem (equal pts and GD to chelsea)
Lost Final of Champs league
Won FA Cup

Other Test

Stevenage - Won Conference, FA trophy

So peeps, here we go download the tactic http://www.tottenhamjon.co.uk/EAGLEv1.tac and let me know what you think.

Nice . But can you upload the tactic again? The link is broken . Might try it here or here.

A screen of youre results would be nice too. And with what patch do you play 7.0.2?

well done boo for a tactic that obviosuly works with such a good record.

Im amazed you dont suffer in midfield though considering theres nobody home when youre attacking!

good luck

Sorry Guys - http://www.sendspace.com/file/g841yb

Socks - I believe it was actually one of your posts that got me thinking about this (cant remember which one)

I tend to find that my defence pass the ball from wing to wing along the half way line and actually support the attack - and on the flipside, the AM's all drop back to their own half ensuring that when on the back foot the opposition cant move forward.

I would certainly be interested on your thoughts for this one socks.

all my tactics come from experimenting with new ideas and trial and error, so i couldnt say without fully testing it whether its good on paper.

There are plenty of people who will offer you advice without seing it in action though, they probably know a lot more than me about the abstract notions of the game engine as I really cant say what will work in any situation without actually seeing the evidence.

Ill load it up at some point and give it a go though, hope it goes well

i used a tactic the same shape to this on an old ajax game. i killed the league and got to the cup final in europe. my defence was sometimes exposed, but i always scored loooads of goals! was more enjoyable to watch tho. and judging from your results, youre scoring plenty too

i have been trying this tactic with my Hinkley Team in my third season.

With such a small club i have had NO transfer budget until the beggining of the current season which was 9k!

i was promoted in my first season playing A 4-4-2 diamondusing a tall target man but half way through the season i lost him for 6 months to injury and had to start playing my target man to feet. Anyway i managed to stay up in my 1st season in the conference national.

(This is taking a while)

After a frentic summer of transfers i started the season off quite well but after about 10 games my players started to flag and just couldnt seem to play football and i dropped down the 17th. I came accross your tactic and decided to give it a go and lo and behold i went on an 8 match unbeatan run in the leauge including a 5-1 win over top of the table Rushden! And a thrilling 4-3 win over 3rd place Mansfield where they came back and took the lead fom 2 goals down and i scored in the 88th minute to secure the win!

I have had a few freak results mainly a 4-0 loss against Hyde from the leauge bellow where the ref sent off 2 of my men and awarded them 3 penalties!

Overall this has been a very good tactic for me leading me to my current position of 5th! with about 12 games to go so its not over by a long shot yet.

Here's hoping to more success in the future

just as a note i am playing my target man to feet as i dont have a quality tall forward and he has scored 17 in 29 which is really good for me

Pleased to hear that this tactic is working well for you sirlimps, its been an anxious wait to hear some feedback from someone else.

I have had 1 or 2 red cards with this however the AI seems to get more than me... maybe this is something that ill look into for vsn2.
