I have read that a player's mental traits can change through tutoring.
I understand that for tutoring to be successful you need to both the player and mentor to have similar personalies.
So how do you get a player with poor mental traits to increase if the players they are learning from have high mental traits.
Will they not get on?
Also do thinks like reputation or CA have an affect on the result.
If you have had success with this then please share your experiences. Many people complain that this fails around 8/10. If we can understand what is required for this too work we can make better decisions.
I'm a big fan of passing on determination on to my youngsters, and will regularly sign a dud with 20 determination for this very purpose.
Most of the time, you can pass it on. Personalities don't have to be exactly compatible, but it does help. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to tell whether they really are of a similar mould or are likely to hate each other.
CA/PA also doesn't appear to have a bearing. I got a youth from 8 to 20 in determination after a couple of tutoring sessions, but he was still absolutely cack.
Possibly. To be honest, I've only attracted two older more "reputable" pros to my club, but both have done a good job at improving my youngsters.
I've found at my club (I don't know if this is the same for all) that to start with hardly any of my tutoring attempts worked. The ones that did worked very well, and as I added more players and changed the side, more worked and more took hold.
Now I have quite a determined squad, and quite a few players have each other as favoured personel, so it appears to have worked. However, there are still the odd few who just simply refuse to tutor or be tutored for very long. You soon learn who can and can't be tutors/tutored, though, and work around it.
Ive had newsmessages stating that there was no way he could get along with someone totally different and that the tutoring had broken down. When reloading the save game, the message never appeared and the tutoring went just fine. Attributes increased and PPM's were added.
This is a thread that I am very intereseted in, because I have had some superstar players who can not mentor a player worth a crud. Robino was the Euro player of the year/striker of the year for 3 straight seasons, and kids just won't be mentored by him. I have tired 5 or 6 times and it isn't good. Also have a very quality midfielder who was a regen/newgen, and every player comes back I can't imagine trying to learn under a player with such a different personality. On the other hand Lukus Polkinski and Wes Brown, I have always had exceptional luck with. Anyway, I have looked around these forums a couple of times with very little insight into the factors of how a player precieves another player.
i find it easy to get players to adopt a better attitude through tutoring but i have a damn hard time getting them to adopt preferred player moves. grrrr.
